Did you know that the Maltese language is a dialect of Tunisian Arabic? πŸ€”πŸ’

Maltese descends directly from Siculo-Arabic, which also descends directly from Tunisian Arabic, which was used in the Emirate of Sicily between 831 and 1091.
For this reason, Maltese is classified as a Semitic language.

Nowadays and despite the divergence of Maltese from its Tunisian origins, any Tunisian taking a trip to Malta and any Maltese taking a trip to Tunisia today would be able to communicate effortlessly.

Galette des Rois - Raymond Blanc's Christmas Feast - BBC Two 12/01/2023

Happy Epiphany πŸ’•πŸŽŠπŸ™πŸΌ

This Christian festive which is commemorating the arrival of the Three Kings to the manger where Jesus was born, has inspired a gastronomic custom in France since the Middle.
The French have been serving up "Galette des Rois"( cake of the Kings) since the 14th-century.

Traditionally, it’s served on January 6th – the 12th day of Christmas and it can be eaten throughout the month of January as a festive way to celebrate the new year with family and friends, regardless of religious background.

You’ll typically find two basic styles of Galettedes Rois: In northern France, it’s made of pΓ’te feuilletΓ©, puff pastry, and stuffed with a dense, creamy almond paste called frangipane.

In the south of France, you’ll be eating a brioche-style cake covered with candied fruit. Other variations can be found as well, from shortbread-style, popular in Western France, to those that have alternate fillings, such as chocolat-poire (chocolate-pear) or raspberry.
