Yesterday our students had the fantastic opportunity to attend an Awards and Graduation Ceremony at the National Stadium, hosted by the Irish Football Association, celebrating their successful participation in the Education and Employability Programme.

The event recognised the hard work, dedication, and achievements of all the students involved. Students also had the chance to hear inspiring guest speakers and former programme graduates who shared their experiences, career journeys, and valuable advice for the future.

We are incredibly proud of our students and all they have accomplished throughout the programme. Congratulations to everyone who graduated and received awards, a wonderful achievement and a memorable day at the National Stadium!

A special thank you to the IFA School Development Officers for their ongoing support, encouragement, and commitment throughout the programme. Their dedication has helped provide our students with valuable opportunities, qualifications and experiences that will benefit them in the future.

Year 14 Performing Arts and All that Jazz!

Laurelhill Community College is the Lead Centre for Level 3 Performing Arts in the Lisburn Area Learning Community. This week we staged the Year 14 final devised performance, inspired by ‘Chicago’ the musical. We have pupils from Forthill, Lisnagarvey, St Colms and Laurelhill studying Performing Arts and they have been a joy to teach over the last two years. They have developed their skills and confidence with each performance piece and ‘Chicago’ was a perfect finale! Farewell to the class of 2026 and we wish you every success for the future. We look forward to welcoming more Performing Arts enthusiasts in September!

The news everyone has been patiently waiting for. Our school production for December 2026 is the musical theatre masterpiece, Oliver!

It has been 10 years since we brought ‘Oliver’ to the Laurelhill stage and this is going to be a show not to miss for December 2026. We are excited to get our talented pupils through the auditions and ready to go as we prepare to transport you to Victorian London for this classic musical treat!

Auditions will be held in E1 on Tuesday 16th June – please see Mrs Heaney to collect audition material and a time slot. Good luck! 😊

Year 14 v Staff match

Last week our annual Year 14 leavers match took place against the Laurelhill staff. The match was keenly contested with great play and some strong tackles from both teams. The match ended 0-0 which then led to penalties. The penalties went to sudden death with PE student Matthew Walsh scoring the winning penalty. This marked the Year 14’s last ever match in Laurelhill colours and we look forward to inviting them back to our annual sports awards on the 23rd of June to recognise their Belfast shield win.
