🏆⚽ 2026 Cross Community Shield Winners ⚽🔥

The U16 squad took on St Patrick’s Lisburn in the annual Cross Community Shield, a fixture that has been running for almost 20 years. As always, it was played in the right spirit, with both teams showing great respect for one another while competing fiercely for the silverware.

It was a strong start from St Pat’s, who dominated possession during the first half. However, against the run of play, Aidas picked up a loose ball and fired home from the edge of the box to give LHS the lead.

The second half was end-to-end, with both sides creating big chances. Changes at half-time gave LHS fresh legs and renewed energy across the pitch. The second goal arrived through Reuben McC, who found space inside the box and finished well.

FT: LHS 2–0 St Pat’s

⭐ Man of the Match: Rhys Dale

Rhys was a constant thorn in the side of St Pat’s throughout the game. He led the press from the front, made several intelligent runs in behind, and was unfortunate not to get his name on the scoresheet after a goal was dubiously ruled out for offside.

A big thank you to St Pat’s for continuing this fantastic annual fixture between the U16 boys.

Until next year 🤝

🏐Year 10 Junior Netball Result🏐

The junior year 10 team played well in a difficult away match to Wallace. Lisnagarvey began the game on the back foot as Wallace dominated the match and played with high intensity and just scored one goal after the other making the first quarter score 10-2 to Wallace. Lisnagarvey came out the second quarter brightly and it was a much more tightly contested game, this great play continued into the third quarter. The Garvey girls were tighter on the court, they had lovely connecting passes in the centre of the court, and they scored some great goals but also missed a lot of shots which made it almost impossible to catch Wallace after their impeccable start. The final quarter the junior girls had tired themselves out and Wallace capitalised on this scoring 9 goals as opposed to our 3. Final score was Wallace 26, Lisnagarvey 11.

POTM goes to Kansas Philpott for her tireless effort in WA. She was up and down the court, keeping play in the centre of the court going, capitalising on centre passes and just had the drive and encouragement to keep going and do as well as she could, even when a defeat was imminent.

🏐Year 9 Netball Result🏐

Our year 9 minors also face Wallace and from the start it was fast paced, both teams showing attacking intent, moving the ball swiftly though the court. However, it was Wallace who took the lead with several interceptions and applying constant pressure. The second quarter was pretty much the same, both sides constantly attacking with Wallace converting more successfully putting them now well into the lead. With a few positional changes, Garvey started to find their rhythm, creating more chances with better passing and communication on court forcing turnovers. Despite this Wallace secured the win. Well done to year 8’s Mollie Irwin and Carly Rose Parker who stepped up to help our year 9 team.

POTM goes to Ella Spence GA with her exceptional shooting skills then seamlessly transitioned confidently into GD and made a huge impact on the game. Well done, Ella!

🏐Netball Year 8 Result🏐

Our Year 8s faced Wallace at home in a Lisburn League fixture and what a tightly contested encounter this was with both teams struggling to convert their chances in front of the goal. Wallace took the lead 3-2 in the first quarter. During the second quarter Garvey struggled with accurate passing and at times it was a scrappy affair. It was even during the third quarter, each team working tirelessly trying to find their rhythm. The score stood at 4-6 to Wallace. It was all to play for during the final quarter and this is where Garvey started to improve with better movement through the mid court, better teamwork and accurate passing allowing them to close the gap on the score board. At final whistle it was a draw 7-7.

POTM goes to Mollie Irwin (GD) who worked tirelessly in defence, never giving up and making crucial interceptions helping to attack. Well done, Mollie.

🏐Year 8 Netball Result🏐
On Tuesday, the year 8 Netball team faced Friends in a competitive Lisburn league fixture. It was a tightly contested encounter and both teams struggled to convert their chances in front of goal. During the first quarter the match was full of intense pressure through the court with interceptions and turnovers preventing either side from building any momentum. Garvey took the lead 1-0.
In the second quarter it was pretty much the same pattern reflecting the disciplined defensive work and some missed shooting opportunities at both ends. The play remained at times scrappy with neither team able to find rhythm. The score stood at 2-0 to Garvey.
In the third quarter shooting accuracy continued to be an issue. Strong marking from our girls kept Friends score low. Heading into the final quarter the teams were separated by only two goals.
During the final quarter we saw slightly improved movement through the midcourt with better teamwork and accurate passing. This resulted in another goal for Garvey securing the win 3-1.
Well done to our defence who worked tirelessly to maintain a solid defence throughout the game leading to only one goal conceded.
POM goes to Precious Aderibigbe (WD) for her ability to read the game make crucial interceptions and help drive the team forward in attack. Well done Precious
