A time for goodbye…❤️
Margaret Crossthwaite has served in our kitchen for many years as cook in charge. As a past parent she took over the role with incredible diligence and dedication. Our consistent 5 star rating said it all. Not only did Margaret provide exemplary service, but she catered for every dietary need required - and took such pride that every little child would be included in the dining hall. She also provided school with all of our 'in-house' catering and her scones and shortbread were renowned!
Mrs Taylor joined the office staff over 20 years ago and we wish her well in retirement. Meticulous in all that she did, we will miss Nicola's quiet, unassuming ways.
Mrs Burns leaves the office too as she retires. Elaine was our shared secretary! Spending the morning in the Nursery School she then made her way down the hill to work the afternoon shift! Loyal, kind and witty, she had the skill of always seeing the funny side to a situation. She often brightened up the office with her dry humour! It was lovely too that she knew most of our new P1s as they arrived - quite the celebrity!
Our loved and valued Building Supervisor, Steven, is also 'calling it a day'. There's nothing Steven wouldn't do for school! He kept our building and grounds immaculately, and his skill set was the envy of many....plumber, painter, electrician, gardener, and of course, musician! Steven - you have been a wonderful friend to all.
Mrs Thompson, our Executive Officer/School Secretary, has decided it is time to retire also. Words sometimes fail; it is hard to word how much she too will be missed. It was often said, 'Joan could run the school'. Nothing is ever too much bother - and every task she undertook was always her best work; a perfectionist. Loved by the staff, her back office was often the place you visited for advice, wise counsel, or perhaps even a sweet treat!
There will never be another Joan Thompson and we are all the richer for knowing her!
