The Nest Nursery and Pre-school, Lincoln

We have loved spending time outside in the sunshine this week - lots of water play, painting, climbing, balancing and exploring. We also enjoyed our first outdoor lunch of the year ☀️

International women’s Day - celebrating all of the women in our lives and the girls we are raising to be the next generation 🥰

This week it was a joy to watch a group of children working together with loose parts. They joined lots of pipes together, then poured water down the pipes watching it trickle out of the other end. They then tried adding a piece of hose pipe - it was quite tricky to pour water down the hose, but they tried and persevered! When there was a leak a child used a cup to collect the dripping water!
When children are given loose parts, wonderful things happen 🥰

Yesterday D. Arrived at nursery very cross, he had seen lots of rubbish on the street on his way to nursery.
The Bluebells took action and set off out to litter pick the street making it look much tidier - D. was very happy ☺️

Our room that was flooded is all fixed now, the children loved having the new floor laid yesterday (even if they were slightly disappointed that it’s not green, yellow, pink, glitter, rainbow!).
Today we went off in search of new lampshades to finish off the room, a walk along the river, chattering as we went - we found some lovely pink, yellow, green, blue rainbow ones which were perfect and everyone was happy. ☺️ We also had a little snack picnic and a journey in the lift - which was very exciting!!
We are very happy with the new space we have created ☺️

Happy Pancake day!! We enjoyed pancakes and fruit for snack today 🥞

The Buttercup children have been very interested in the one remaining room that is drying out from the burst pipes. We have regular chats about the water coming through the ceiling and they like to check out how it’s drying.
Today they went out on a little trip to look at new flooring for the room, they loved catching the bus and then checked out all of the different carpets, trying out how they felt and looking at all the different colours! We also enjoyed watching a van being washed at the car wash and then walked back along the river chatting about the things we saw.
What a lovely afternoon we had - can’t wait to see the new flooring being fitted ☺️

What a lovely day - we have welcomed the children and their families back 🎉

We have loved being back together - it’s a bit different as we have been in slightly different groups and some children have had to move rooms, but everyone took it in their stride and we were just excited to see each other again 🥰

I would like to Thank everyone one who has sent us messages of support, offers of help with cleaning, repairing, resources and gifts too. You have all been amazing, the support has meant so much to us this week. I am still sorting out the insurance claim and rooms will be out of bounds for a while … but …

WE WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW 🎉

We can’t wait for the children to return, it has been very quiet without them!

What a start to 2026 - we came in yesterday to burst pipes and a flooded nursery. We are working hard to clear up the mess and ensure the building is safe for the return of the children. We know how inconvenient it is for parents, but currently the situation is out of our control.

Thank you for all of the messages of support, offers of help and the group of parents that have today sent us a deliveroo voucher - the staff team are enjoying a lovely hot lunch.

To all of our fledglings’ that have flown The Nest and start school this week - we are so proud of you all, have a great day -it’s the start of a whole new adventure. (Don’t forget to let us know how you get on, we love to see you in your new uniforms too 🥰)

We are also excited to be starting our new adventures with new children and their families, children moving rooms and others returning after the Summer break.We have made lots of changes over the holidays and can’t wait to let the children settle into the new environments 😊
