A wonderful way to start the week! Well done to my school-based pupil Tom who achieved a fantastic distinction in his grade one exam ๐
Lots of metronome practise has certainly paid off! So many lovely, well deserved comments from the examiner: โhigh level of pitch and accuracy. The performance was given in a poised mannerโฆโ ๐คฉ๐ถ

Not all pupils will choose to pursue exams, but my expectations remain the same and the same level of quality and skills is achieved. Year 10 Rufus has consistently met the requirements for Grade One exam pieces, mastering notes, tempo and dynamic changes and so his accomplishments are celebrated ๐ Next, we move things up a level! ๐ถ๐น

Hope everyone has enjoyed their half term break โ๏ธ
I am busy this morning finalising timetables and getting new music ready for my students. Term 6 is often a busy term, we have ABRSM Practical exams, Trinity and ABRSM Performance Recordings being filmed and submitted, not to mention end of school performances being prepared. Itโs also an important period for many Year 10 GCSE students, as whatever we are working on now will likely be recorded as a โrealโ submission for coursework in September ๐ถ
Itโs easy to feel a little overwhelmed at this point, but remember regular and consistent practise is the key. If you donโt have a lot of time, make the time you have count and focus on the tricky parts of your music. If all you have is 5 minutes to focus on two bars that always let you downโฆthen itโs still time well spent!
Most importantly of course, we also want to enjoy reflecting on the progress that has been made in this academic year. Look back on September and appreciate where you are now ๐ถ๐น๐
