Burton Hathow is a family orientated Independent Preparatory School for children aged 2-11, set in over four acres of wooded grounds. At Burton Hathow we pride ourselves on providing the best educational experience for children, in a safe and happy environment, thoroughly preparing each child for their next step in education and life. 🌿 Almost time to come back to Burton Hathow… 🎒

The last few days of the summer holidays are here, and before we know it, the school gates will be open and a brand-new term will begin! 💛

A few little things to remember before the big day…

🎒 Find your school bag (and investigate whatever may have been left in it since last term! 😅)
👟 Check those school shoes still fit after a summer of growing
🏷️ Make sure everything is named — jumpers have a habit of wandering!
📚 Get back into the bedtime routine… or at least give it a try!
🌳 Make the most of those final slow summer mornings
💬 And most importantly, talk about all the lovely things to look forward to — seeing friends, favourite teachers and all the adventures a new term will bring.

For anyone feeling a few butterflies about coming back, that’s completely normal too. There will be lots of familiar, smiling faces waiting to welcome you.

⛵✨ Year 4 have spent weeks designing and making boats, beginning with nothing more than a collection of cardboard and a wealth of imagination. 📦💡

From those first ideas came an incredible journey of testing, refining, developing, struggling, triumphing, discussing, reflecting and articulating their thinking. 🌊🤝💭 Every challenge became an opportunity to learn, create and grow.

As the end of term arrives, it’s time for this project to come to a close—but the creative process could easily have continued for many more weeks. The fleet has now sailed, but what a fantastic journey it has been! 🚤🌟

Creativity, concentration, and new skills all in one activity! 🔨🧶

Reception and Butterflies explored using hammers safely while creating their own unique string art with nails and wool. Every pattern was different, showing imagination, patience, and growing confidence with real tools. 🌿✨
