New Course: Baby First Aid and Care
27th Feb 2013 - FREE to attend, 9:30 - 12:30 Skellingthorpe Youth Centre. Ages 19+

Course description: A non accredited NOT hands on course really designed as essential information for first aid in the home. This course will help you identify various types of injuries such as cuts, burns and stings and how to deal with them on your child. You will also learn about common emergencies such as choking and how to deal with these until emergency help arrives.

New Course: CV Writing -
7 & 14 Feb 2013 - FREE to attend, 9:30 - 12:30 Skellingthorpe Youth Centre. Ages 19+

Course description: At some time we all need to be able to supply our personal information for someone to read, this course will help you to put together your personal information in written form. You will also learn how to draft a letter and make sure it is addressed in the correct form and to the right person so that you are able to convey what you wish to say. So come along and help get the perfect CV.

NEW Introduction to Dress Making at Trent Valley Academy, Gainsborough

Starting: Tuesday 22nd January for 5 weeks, 6:30 – 8:30

Course Description: The perfect class for those returning to sewing, or after taking our Beginners class. Use a commercial pattern to make clothing items. Make yourself a top, skirt or simple dress. Some patterns and fabrics will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own.

NEW Bra making at Trent Valley Academy, Gainsborough

Bra Making £50 + materials (advanced sewing skills required)

Starting: Thursday 24th January for 5 weeks, 6:30 – 8:30

Course Description: You will work with basic bra fabrics to gain an understanding of the skills and techniques involved in bra making. The complexities of bra sizing and wire selection will also be discussed. You will be given instruction on how to copy a favourite bra to make your 'perfect' pattern and the opportunity to work with specialist laces and fabrics.

Basic Kit prices approx £10.00, (extra kits will be available to purchase for home or use in further sessions).

NEW Corset Making

6:30 – 8:30 – Starting Thursday 8th November to 6th December (5 weeks), £50 + materials (intermediate level)

Corsets have come back into fashion and are fabulous for giving you a shapely outline and reducing the waist. Corsets are now worn as outerwear, but can also be discretely worn under your normal day wear as underwear if you choose.

You will be taught the basic making and fitting skills to produce a wearable garment. You may provide your own materials but kits will also be available to purchase at the session.

This workshop is a must for those interested in Bridal or special occasion wear. You should already have good basic sewing skills. If you are new to sewing, please attend one of our introduction to sewing courses first.

Basic Sewing Workshop
6:30 – 8:30, Starting Tuesday 6th November to 4th December (5 weeks), £35 + materials (beginner level)

A must for beginners or those who haven't sewn in a long time. All the basic skills will be taught, how to make seams and neaten them, pattern use, inserting zips etc. During the course you will make various small projects including pillowslips, bags, aprons, cushion covers. Once you have completed this class you could go on to any of our other sewing classes.

You are welcome to bring your own materials, however, kits with all the necessary fabrics and components will be available. These vary in price according to your selection and will be available to purchase at the session, starting prices: pillowslip (£2), bag (£3), aprons (£4), cushion cover (£3),
