As part of their sculpture and working in 3D art unit, Year 4 created bird nests. They started their project by learning about the behaviours birds share with humans.

Next, pupils created observational drawings of bird nests using neat / messy lines in a range of media before finally sculpting their own bird nests. They collected natural resources such as sticks, leaves and grass (just like a bird would!) before using clay to mould into the shape of their nest- some pupils even added cotton wool as bedding for their 'eggs'!

This week, Year 2 prepared fruit using the claw grip. They also got to enjoy eating their fruit kebabs in the sunshine with their parents.

In our final Gardening Club session of the year, the children made jam jars of flowers with a clay flower frog! The flower frog is a great help in arranging flowers in the jam jar, they can be decorated at home and used over and over again. The jam jars were filled with lots of lovely scented herbs and a few flowers from the school garden.

During the session, the children spoke about what the club could look like in September- ideas mostly involved eating! They also decided we needed more flowers so we will look at this in the autumn. Whilst the tomatoes have started fruiting the children are really hoping they might be ready before the end of term!
