I have always had a love of learning and working with children. Following some time studying German and living in Germany, I began studying Primary Education with QTS at Bishop Grosseteste University in 2011. A three year degree helped me to deepen my understanding of teaching methods however I left feeling a little disappointed in the education system as it stands. I came across many children who

were just not being served by the national curriculum as it is and were suffering as a result. Throughout my degree I had run a children's activity club and shortly before my graduation in 2014 I transformed this in to a business running group activities and offering private tuition. In 2015 I also took on a class teacher role in a Steiner school which continued to inspire my love of organic learning experiences that do not pressurise the child. Throughout my time as a teacher, I continued to work with families in a private context offering support, 1:1 coaching and advice on how to improve their experiences at school. I am now excited to be continuing this work as I make the leap from class teacher to full time educational wellbeing coach. My aim is simple: To make learning fun and well suited to the individual so that no child is left behind.

šŸOn Thursday I ran a session on felting for Abbey Access Trainingā€™s well-being workshops. The group made poppies ready for Remembrance Day and did exceptionally well to put up with some arm ache in order to turn their wool into felt! They also felted a centre for their poppy and this morning I have sewn them all together. šŸŖ”

If you were one of the lovely bunch who left their poppy behind on Thursday for sewing then you can now collect it from the reception desk at Abbey Access!

Each poppy has a bag attached with a couple of safety pins šŸ§· and a magnetic strip (which can be glued on) so that you can choose how you want to display your poppy. šŸ˜Š
