We're incredibly proud of our students who have just completed The Brilliant Club's Scholars Programme β an amazing opportunity to experience university-style learning alongside a PhD researcher π.
Over the course, students worked with their PhD tutor through five tutorials exploring the fascinating history of Victorian books. They discovered the secrets of book-making technologies, hidden materials in book covers, the relationship between words and images, and the traces readers leave behind.
The programme culminated in students writing a 2,000-word university-style essay answering: "Why should we study the history of books?" β drawing on everything they'd learned throughout their tutorials.
Beyond gaining knowledge applicable to English, history, art and DT, our students have developed invaluable transferable skills including critical thinking, evaluating evidence, developing arguments, academic writing and referencing, and time management β all essential for future careers and university study.
πΈ These photos capture our students' graduation celebration at The University of Sheffield, marking their incredible achievements and the progress they've made.
Well done to all our Scholars β we couldn't be prouder! π
