Bomber County Flying School

Bomber County Flying School Experience the thrill of flight for a good purpose.

09/09/2026

5 September 2026 marked more than an opening - it marked a promise.
Bomber County Flying School launched at Wickenby with the Mark Long Trust beside it, built on the belief that aviation can restore confidence and open doors.

Dame Andrea Jenkyns, Mayor of Lincolnshire, formally opened the event with BCFS CEO Dr Phil Anderton and Beth Long. The day brought together partners who live this mission daily: Flying Scholarships for Disabled People , Aerobility Charity , and fly2help - each proving that accessible aviation is delivered through action, not slogans.

Our first FSDP scholar, Mark Morris, stood as proof of what opportunity makes possible.
A network of kindness, not a one‑off.
A community choosing inclusion as strategy.

This is collaboration in action - and we are only at the beginning.

Thank you Andrea Jenkyns for the way you demonstrated that when good things happen even better outcomes prevail. Your opening speech captured the essence of what we all stand for at Bomber County Flying School and the Mark Long Trust. Whatever the challenge and hurdle, our communities deserve the right to happiness - and the smiles we bring, the hope we give by letting people fly is just incredible. You’re a great ambassador for neurodivergent people achieving great things. Thank you again for opening our Flying School.

A popular element of the experiences that we offer at Bomber County Flying School are trips over the Lincolnshire Bomber County heritage.

Instrumental in making these events informed and exciting is the work of our resident historian Dave Gibson, who we are proud to have on our team. Dave is also a CAA PPL examiner and instructor.

This week Dave commenced his tailwheel validation process in our Chipmunk, the main aircraft we use for the heritage flights over the bases he has written about.

When asked about the Chipmunk all Dave could say was “she’s and absolute beauty to fly and a privilege to be associated with”.

In our view the feelings are mutual Dave - it’s great to have you in the team.

Watch this space for Dave’s guide for each of our 3 routes, soon to be published and available.

We know we like our Pooley’s gear at Bomber County Flying School, but it transpires that Layla, Toby Goodale’s (and ours by adoption rights) Ops dog, also has a need for a headset.

Want an experience flight to remember? Look no further.

Today these three brothers had flights and described them as a “brilliant time” “best thing I’ve done for years” and “that aircraft is lovely” .

Three siblings enjoying our Chipmunk experience flights today at Bomber County Flying School.

And when you think that the profits are for good causes such as Aerobility Charityand the Mark Long Trust, these days leave a genuine feel good factor all round.

A day of absolute privilege.

If we can bash out 6 circuits in 33 degree heat like Len at the grand old age of 94 we’ll be VERY happy.

VERY well done Len ( again).

Some shots from today at the Aero Legends Battle of Britain airshow.

We 100% take my hat off to Ben Perkins and the team. An understated, professionally executed magnificent aviation day.

Lovely to meet Just Jane Novel: WW2 Fictional Romance writer Jessica Ingle-Wood and discuss her new novel gently nudging historic rhetoric about the heroics of the Bomber Command line in a positive way.

The team at Aero Legends gave BCFS a good deal of press and air time to discuss our work with Mark Long Trust and the Aerobility Charity. Great to meet Jon Windover from Aerobility as well.

The Piper 6x was flawless there and back. Lincoln to Kent in 70 minutes. Amazing.
