Inspired by one of our Dunklings interests, next week we’ll be diving into a penguin‑themed week 🐧

Tomorrow we’ll begin by creating a nest for our penguin egg, and we’re hoping it will “hatch” by Thursday.

Small‑world play is such a valuable tool, giving us opportunities to use rich mathematical language and introduce new vocabulary through play. We’ll also be adding water and ice to the tray to spark even more curiosity and engagement.

At the end of last half term we said a sad “see you soon” to our wonderful friend R.
I’m so proud of what a smart and sensitive soul he’s become and he’s such a lovely friend to our Dunklings. I’m sure he will pop back from time to time but for now good luck at preschool R. We love you and will miss you lots!!
Thank you to Mummy S & Daddy T for trusting me with your precious baby boy when he was so tiny. I’ll always be grateful for your continued support. We made a great team for his early years and you’ll all be missed. 💓

After a wonderful week off in Scotland with my own Dunklings I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone back from tomorrow 🙂

What are we playing with tomorrow?

Each day I carefully plan our resources to ensure all our little ones have stimulating and enjoyable toys which are out to help them develop their next steps.

I find having less toys out ensures that toys are played with for longer periods which in turn develops concentration and imagination.

Each resources is changed daily to ensure an effective toy rotation. No days are the same at Little Dunklings.

Here is what we will be playing with tomorrow and what areas of learning it supports…

- Button pictures help develop pincer grip for physical development, colour matching & counting for mathematical language as well as language development and working together skills. This is a resource we normally use with our friends.

-Cars and bunny ears for role play opportunities and to help us development of understanding the world around us. We will also link these into circle time and see if any of our little ones would like to share their spring break updates 🐰 🥚

-Spring bingo cards are used during our village walks for understanding the world around us

-Wooden shapes to help us with shape recognition

-Sensory tray with letters in. Some of our little ones are focussing on name & letter recognition. This is also a brilliant way to develop muscles & strength in our hands & hand eye coordination thanks to the tweezers and scoops

- Metal bowls & cups for role play opportunities and open ended play. These can also be used as part of our loose parts range, to develop imagination and our communication and language skills.
