🍼 Safer Sleep Update
We’ve refreshed our safer sleep practice in line with the new EYFS guidance, making sure every little one rests safely and comfortably.

This includes regular sleep checks, safe positioning, well‑ventilated spaces and calm, consistent routines. We have brand new waterproof sleep mats, travel cots and cellular blankets conforming to the safer sleep guidance.

Creating a secure sleep environment helps babies feel settled, supports healthy development and gives parents peace of mind. 💛

This week has been an emotional one at Dunklings.
We’ve said “see you soon” to two of our eldest Dunklings, and if I’m honest, my heart feels a little bit broken. When a child comes to Dunklings, they are loved and cared for as if they were my own — so knowing I won’t see them as often is something that never gets easier.

On Tuesday, the wonderful R gave us his last “see you soon”. After 3½ years together, it’s hard to put into words just how special that time has been. R, I am so proud of the sensitive, animal loving, thoughtful soul you’ve become. You shine in everything you do, and I know that light will only grow brighter.

It’s never goodbye… just see you soon. 💛✨

🐸 A Special Visitor in Our Garden!
On Monday the children discovered a toad resting in the garden, and their curiosity sparked a wonderful bit of real‑life learning. We talked about why frogs sometimes need a quiet place to recover and how we can help wildlife safely.
Together, the children gathered leaves, damp soil, small stones and a shallow dish of water to create a cosy frog habitat. As they worked, we explored ideas like shelter, habitats, amphibians and looking after nature. The children showed such care and gentle hands, checking on him from a distance and giving him plenty of space.
A beautiful moment of empathy, science and outdoor learning — all inspired by one little frog. 🌿✨

🌻 Sunflowers & Busy Bees – Learning in the Garden 🐝
This week the children spent time watching our tall sunflowers swaying in the breeze and spotting the bees as they landed on each flower. They were fascinated by how tall the sunflowers had grown in the two weeks we’ve been on holiday. We watched how the bees gently moved, how their wings buzzed, and how they collected pollen from the centre.
We talked about key ideas like pollination, nectar and why bees are so important for helping plants grow new seeds. The children used brilliant language, made thoughtful observations and showed such curiosity about the tiny creatures working hard in our garden.
A lovely mix of science, nature and early environmental awareness — all sparked by sunflowers and a few busy bees. 🌼✨
