Just popped into Lincoln Central Library to check the room set-up for our 4th AI cohort.
It’s such a welcoming space and thanks to the library staff and IT team, everything is ready.
Then we had a last-minute change… which means we now have 1 final place available for 10:00–13:00 tomorrow and next Friday. If you can make those times, message me today.
And a proud moment to end the day: our learner Bernadette has been nominated for LCC Learner of the Year — celebrating her remarkable journey from digital uncertainty to confident, practical use of AI in everyday life. Curiosity GlobalLincolnshire LibrariesLincolnshire County Council2aspire

We’re delighted to share a wonderful learner story from Bernadette, featured in the latest issue of Lincolnshire County Council Adult Learning News (Issue 03 | Summer Term 2026).
Bernadette joined our course feeling unsure about AI — and left feeling confident and empowered. Her words really stayed with us:
“I now use AI in my everyday life, I am no longer afraid of it, can see the positives and the dangers and would encourage anyone, but especially people like I am, who were not brought up in a tech savvy world to push yourself and learn about this so important tool.
More than anything, do not let age and fear be a barrier to learning!”
Thank you, Bernadette, for speaking so openly about your experience — it will encourage so many others.
If you’d like to feel more confident using AI for work and everyday life (safely and critically), we’d love to welcome you to our AI Skills for Everyday Life & Work course this Summer Term.

Empowering children!
Lincolnshire Libraries
Let's Fill This World With Kindness by GLL Literary Foundation author Alexandra Stewart is the perfect book for troubled times.
This week's is a collection of over 25 real-life stories that show how heroic acts of kindness can change our world for the better. In this uplifting collection of stories, children are introduced to real-life heroes and heroines who have chosen to act in kindness, even when they have been faced with terrible persecution, prejudice, disaster and illness.
Aimed at empowering children who feel the weight of the world on their shoulders, these stories are designed to help readers make positive choices in their own lives by embracing kindness as their superpower.
Stories include Harriet Tubman’s remarkable rescue missions to free enslaved African Americans; the French village of Le Chambon’s protection of Jewish refugees under N**i persecution during the Second World War; and the Fukushima workers who volunteered to clean up after the nuclear crisis in Japan; as well as everyday examples of kindness in sporting competitions, neighbourly acts of kindness and random acts of kindness towards complete strangers.

The past three days have been quite a journey. 😊
When several learners and our tutor became unavailable at the last minute, I spent the weekend contacting people who might benefit from our AI course and rearranging the schedule to suit most learners. I’ve always believed that whether AI becomes an equaliser or a new digital divide depends on how we bring it to our communities.
Some people encouraged me; others understandably had different priorities. I accepted this and adjusted the course dates.
Then, this morning, something unexpected happened.
Paul, a County Council staff member based at the library, phoned to say:
“A learner has turned up for your course.”
I felt really sorry that she had come all the way for the session.
She explained quietly that she had only seen the printed flyer — she had no internet access at home, so hadn’t seen our updates on Facebook — and had driven 17 minutes to the library, determined to attend.
Later, she emailed to say she had struggled with the online enrolment.
I called her back, guided her through each step, and she was genuinely delighted.
When everything was finally sorted, I looked out of the window.
The winter sun felt unusually warm. In that quiet moment, the effort of the past few days made perfect sense.
I’m truly grateful to those who offered support and encouragement along the way. I still don’t know who shared the flyer in her area — I certainly didn’t — but this reminded me:
Be patient, keep offering true value.
It will, in time, reach the right people. 🩷 2aspireLincolnshire County CouncilCuriosity GlobalErmine Library and Community Hub
