Gloop play for all the children this week including our youngest Explorer.

The benefits of Gloop play:

Manipulating, squeezing, and pouring the mixture strengthens hand muscles and enhances hand-eye coordination.

Enhances sensory exploration of textures, and supporting cognitive growth through cause-and-effect experimentation. We noticed that by adding more water or cornflour the consistency changed.

It is a calming, therapeutic, and creative activity that boosts language development and provides a safe space for open-ended, messy experimentation. We talked about how calm our bodies felt while we played.

We noticed that by mixing cornflour with some black mica powder the gloop turned Grey!

💕 Happy Valentine’s Day 💕
This week in the setting we’ve been talking about Love, Friendship and the Special People in our lives.

The children made heart shaped crayons. They peeled the paper from left over crayon pieces, chose which colours to add the their mould and thought about who they would like to give their heart to, they chose Grandparents, friends, mummies & Daddies and a Great Grandma ❤️

They each made jam Tarts which they all enjoyed at snack 😋 We added roses to water play and made some Valentines crafts.

🎄Festive Fun 🎄

Today the children made Bread Rolls. They weighed the flour and added dried yeast & salt. Then rubbed the butter in to make breadcrumbs. Added water to make the dough with a little help from me. It was then time to knead the dough. We left the dough to rise for 1.5 hours. “Wow, look how big it’s got” we shared it out and they rolled it into small balls and placed on baking tray. We baked it in the oven for 15 minutes.

I’m so pleased with our outdoor area. We will have different themes each week, Starting with the Sunflowers 🌻 they have grown.
