Being a SEND parent is absolutely amazing but at times it can also feel like you have been put in maze with no exits whilst being chased by a giant chicken nugget 🤣

Even though friends and family try and be supportive unless you’re living a similar journey it is really hard to relate. Sometimes we just need to hear “omg me too!”.

Finding friends in your phone who you can share the sh*t show days with, talk to at 3am when you’re both still awake and share the minor yet bloody brilliant moments, is priceless!

Having someone who just gets it can be our life line!

What we need more of is acceptance.

Acceptance that autistic children and adults see the world differently, may need difference approaches to support their learning and daily living needs.

Acceptance that it’s US that needs to changes. It’s US that should make adjustments, seek out information to make us better care givers, teachers, neighbours.

We need to accept autistic people for their individual selves and see their many many strengths and be there ready to support them with the areas they find difficult. We need to respect their feelings wishes and desires.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Tag a friend who is doing an amazing job at being a special needs mum ❤️

You are so much more than just mum - you have to be your child’s advocate, their physio, their speech therapist, their ally, and you have to fight to make sure they have access to everything they need to get the best care, support for them to be able to fulfil their potential.

It’s a lot! It’s draining, emotionally and physically but full of such highs and lot’s of love.

This is just our little way to show we see you, we appreciate you and want you to know you are doing an amazing job!!

Taking the time to tag a special needs mum who is doing an amazing job could make a difficult day that little bit better. We all need to know we are appreciated x

We have been super quiet on here as our lives have been the definition of stressful!
