Yes this is me! I'm that person who emails you outside of my working hours because I've been teaching lots of lovely students music lessons for most of my day and into the evening that I've once again run out of hours in the day!
Running a business is tough and replying to emails is something I do every day to keep on top of my business.
Please be kind and patient. I will ALWAYS get back to you. Please also note that email is the best way to get in contact as I'm not always in the office to answer the phone. I also work remotely and grab a few minutes on my breaks between teaching.

Happy Friday!
As a small business owner it's really important to find some time for self care. Just an hour in a coffee shop for me with my book and I'm ready to crack on this afternoon with admin work before teaching my lovely Friday classes.

In debates about what really helps children learn, music education tends to sit near the bottom of the list, seen as enrichment rather than a core academic driver. A recurring finding complicates that assumption, because children who take regular music lessons tend to end up meaningfully ahead of their classmates in school.

The size of the gap is what makes the pattern stand out, with music students often finishing school around a full academic year ahead in maths, English and science. A difference that large, showing up consistently, is exactly the kind of result that gets researchers and educators paying attention.

Before drawing firm conclusions, it's important to stress that this is a correlation rather than proof of cause. The data shows the two things going together without establishing that one produces the other. Children who take music lessons may differ in other ways, from home environment to personality, that also shape academic success, which makes the threads genuinely hard to untangle.

What can be said is that the association is robust and tends to strengthen the longer a child keeps playing, which at least hints at something real. Learning to read rhythm and pitch draws on focus, memory and pattern recognition, the same mental muscles the core subjects rely on. Whether or not music is the direct cause, the skills it builds look a great deal like the skills school rewards.

Take a look at this A level students textiles project. She is one of our keyboard students and used some music I gave her to recycle in this design. Love it ❤️

I'm still waiting to hear back from parents on my waiting list who want to sign up for young beginner music classes. Please get in touch if you are interested in music lessons for your 4-7 year old before it's too late and we have no spaces left.

Hey fellow music teacher!
I'm looking to start a monday or wednesday social group for local music teachers to come together and discuss, share and support each other.
Are you a music teacher who works alone? Are you free 2, 3 or 4 times a year to come and talk to other fellow teachers.
This is a feeler post to see if there are a few of us that could make it happen. Please share.

Does anyone have any information?

Today a car was damaged in our carpark when a parent was picking up her children from their music lesson around Mid-day. I am asking if any parents who were also picking up saw anything or have any information. I am completely shocked that this happened and no one came inside to find the owner of the car. I am sure this was an accident and I hope someone will come forward as their car must have been damaged too. Please get in touch if you can help.

I absolutely love the enthusiasm of our students having in school tuition on a Wednesday at Hartshlome Academy. This wonderful piano player not only completed her set pieces this week so also wrote a song. ❤️
