We feel so lucky to have such a dedicated team here at Greetwell Hollow, and we are incredibly proud of the effort, heart, passion and commitment they put into the nursery and children every single day. It means the world to see their hard work recognized in such a lovely way.

Cuteness Overload! 🥰

After 27 days waiting, we have incubated and hatched 5 baby ducklings!! 🐣 🦆

They are absolutely adorable. When they grow up they will enjoy a free roaming life at our sister setting The Granary Day Nursery in their field 😃

Many families use dummies to settle and soothe their baby, but research has shown that as children get older, a dummy can start to impact on their speech and language development.

Before they learn to talk, children babble – they try out lots of different speech sounds and experiment with them. A dummy can restrict the range of tongue and mouth movements and make it more difficult for them to do this.

At around 12-18 months there can be huge developmental changes in a child's speech, so it's recommended by speech and language therapists to start working towards getting rid of the dummy by this age.

Try to minimise the use of the dummy – can it just be kept for naps and bedtimes if needed?

Make sure that when your little one is busy playing, talking or sharing a story with you that they don't have their dummy in - these are great opportunities for them to try out new sounds and words.

Can you distract you little one or keep the dummy out of sight?

Toddlers Mini beast hunt!

The toddlers and team had a very busy but exciting morning hunting for mini beasts in the local woodland. This linked in with the learning that has been happening over the last couple of weeks in the room. We found worms, beetles, wood lice and snails. We were also lucky enough to see quite a few butterflies but we could not catch them. They were far too fast! We used our new bug hunting kits and magnifying boxes to see up close what we had found. The children were behaved impeccably and we even stopped off to have a little play on the field. Well done everyone! We will be out and exploring our local area very soon again.
