What are you actually looking for when you invest in professional development?

Because training can sound great on paper.

But what are you going to learn? What will improve? And how will that actually show up in the work you do?

The return isn’t always financial.

It might be becoming a better leader. Navigating conversations differently. Supporting people more effectively. Or developing skills you can take back into your existing role, organisation or community.

For us, these are conversations worth having before you invest in any training.

And if you’re considering training with we’re always happy to have an honest conversation about what you’re hoping to develop, what you want to get from it, and where it fits.

A little behind the scenes at RCA 👀

Learning to coach isn’t about having a response for everything someone says.

It’s learning how to listen, notice what matters and get curious about where the conversation might need to go.

This was part of a recent Skill Builder session, where we took the skill, broke it down and then put it into practice.

Our next live Recovery Coach Academy starts this September.

If you’ve been thinking about becoming a Recovery Coach, reach out and we’ll send you the details.

Learning to coach is not the same as learning to build a business.

And we think it is important to be honest about that.

Recovery Coach training can help you develop your skills, confidence, ethics, boundaries, and ability to support people well.

But becoming a good coach does not automatically mean you know how to price your work, find clients, manage enquiries, set up systems, protect your time, communicate your offer, handle the admin, or build something sustainable.

That is a different kind of work.

We do support people with business development in other ways, but that is a separate conversation.

Our Recovery Coach Professional Pathway is about developing strong, ethical, professional practice and coaching capability.

For some people, that strengthens the work they are already doing in services, communities, organisations, or family support roles.

For others, it may become part of a bigger dream to build something of their own.

Both are valid.

But they are not the same conversation.

We value honesty and transparency, so we would rather tell the truth than let people believe one training automatically gives them a whole business.

If this is something you are exploring, you are always welcome to reach out and have a conversation.

Apparently, some of the things we believe make great recovery support are kinda chic👀

Not having all the answers.
Listening properly.
Staying curious.
Seeing strengths.
Supporting without trying to save.

Knowing when to support, when to step back, and how to keep learning.

And knowing that lived experience and learning can sit side by side.

This is what we practise at RCA.

Our Recovery Coach Professional Pathway is for people who want to develop the skills, confidence and intention to support others through recovery, change and life’s transitions.

Whether you already work alongside people, your lived experience has led you towards supporting others, or you’re curious about where recovery coaching could take you.

Kinda chic to care✨
Kinda chic to keep learning✨
Kinda chic to build real skills✨
Kinda chic to reach out if your curious✨

This is what international recovery coach training looks like🌍

Today we wrapped up the final day of our latest 5-Day Recovery Coach Academy.

One Zoom room. People joining from different countries, bringing different experiences, professions, perspectives and relationships with recovery.

And even our team weren’t all in the same country, with Naetha Uren and Calliese Conner delivering across the UK, Portugal and Spain🇬🇧🇵🇹🇪🇸

But what makes a group like this special isn’t how many countries we can count.

It’s what happens when those people come together.

Five days of questions, conversations, practice, laughter, vulnerability, challenging our thinking and learning from one another.

At the end today, we asked everyone what had been most valuable and what difference the training had made.

We heard:
💬 “I now believe I could do this.”
💬 “More confidence and self-belief.”
💬 “Learning to meet people where they are.”
💬 “Letting the client lead their own recovery.”
💬 “Connection with people on a deeper level.”

And perhaps that’s what this screenshot captures better than any polished marketing image ever could.

Recovery may look different around the world. But learning how to walk alongside others with curiosity, hope and belief in what’s possible can happen from anywhere.

Our next 5-Day Recovery Coach Academy begins in September🌍

There’s room for you on the next Zoom screen👀
