Catholic dioceses warned: Don’t rush biblical academy trusts Sector leaders are urging Catholic dioceses launching mega MATs of up to 70 schools not to rush the undertaking to avoid the mistakes of the early academy days
📢 New Report Alert: "Systems Matter II: The Impact of the Academy System on Staffing" 📢
We’re excited to share our latest report commissioned by CASE and authored by journalist Warwick Mansell. This follow-up investigation sheds light on how the academy system affects school staffing and resources.
🔍 Key Findings:
Lower classroom spending: Academies spend less per pupil on teaching and support staff than local authority schools.
Fewer teachers per pupil: Pupil-to-teacher ratios are higher, especially in the largest academy trusts.
Lower teacher pay: Teachers in academies, especially in "sponsored academies," earn less than their local authority counterparts.
Younger, less experienced workforce: More teachers in academies are younger and lack Qualified Teacher Status.
Higher teacher turnover: Turnover is significantly higher in the largest academy trusts.
