There are many calculators available on the market but the only ones I would recommend are Casio fx-83GTs.

Currently £11 for the new model in several shops online and in-stores; there are three variations which are suitable for GCSE maths (as well as KS3)

Two are shown below and the even older model will still do the job but is unlikely to be found for sale new.

The key differential of these calculators is that sums can be entered exactly as they look on paper. Throughout my years teaching I have needed to lend these to students who's calculators are not as user-friendly, even if they appear to be.

An update ready for the new school year:

100% pass rate for 2023 with my Year 11 students achieving grades 5, 7 and 7.

I'm looking forward to taking my current students through from Year 10 to their GCSEs next summer.

There are a few spaces now available ready for the new school year. The times of day will be clearer once school returns next week but I am now taking enquiries.
