Former Runshaw student Chloe Morley has just released her new book, ‘The Light Within the Shades’, a gripping tale of power, loyalty and inner darkness! Chloe is a performer and director who grew up in Lancashire and graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire with a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Musical Theatre. She has since gone on to perform in the UK and around the world in plays, musicals and shows.

Chloe added, “I was part of the first cohort to study the Musical Theatre branch of The Professional Performance Programme at Runshaw College. I learnt so much during my time and I managed to progress to drama school after finishing my course. Getting to be creative every day inspired other aspects of my life and I actually started writing what is now my debut novel during my time at Runshaw."

We are incredibly proud of Chloe, congratulations on this amazing achievement!

We are thrilled to hear that former Runshaw College Sixth Form Centre students Matt Green and Marcus Johnson, who together run the video and film production company Glacé Media, have won the ‘Best North West Filmmaker’ award at the BIFA-accredited Wigan & Leigh Short Film Festival.

Connect 4 is a locally shot short comedy/drama. The film’s sense of humour is grounded firmly in that of the North West of England, inspired by such comedies as Phoenix Nights and Dinnerladies. The wacky plot and filmmaking style is influenced by one of Matt’s directing idols, Edgar Wright.

Matt and Marcus left Runshaw in 2012 with Matt studying A Levels in Drama, Media and Music Technology and Marcus studying A Levels in History, English Literature and Business Studies.

Congratulations to you both on this amazing achievement, we can’t wait to check in with them as we follow the duo’s latest film project titled “ # FØLGMEG”, a dark Norwegian comedy, due to be completed in the coming months.

This week we were delighted to welcome multi–award-winning author Jenn Ashworth to Runshaw College Sixth Form Centre for an inspiring talk about her life and career. A former student between 1998 and 2000, Jenn was amazed by the transformation of the campus and the high standards demonstrated by both the college and students.

During her visit to the Learning Resource Centre, she delivered an open and honest account of her journey as a writer, sharing the challenges of sustaining a creative career while balancing the demands of work, family, and health.

More than 60 students took part in a Q&A session, asking thoughtful questions about money, career paths, failure, and success. Great to see you again Jenn, and thank you for visiting us to chat to our students!
