🌟 KS3 Hero Award 🌟

A huge congratulations to Carson, who has been awarded a KS3 Hero Award for demonstrating outstanding learning beyond the classroom.

Recently, Carson has been helping a builder install a patio at home and has embraced every opportunity to learn along the way. Through this experience, he has been applying and developing his understanding of Maths and Physics in a real-world setting.

One particularly impressive example came when he was learning about ratios while mixing cement. Carson has been confidently mixing cement using the correct ratios, carefully working out the quantities needed when the bags could only be used as whole units. It is a fantastic demonstration of maths in action and shows a real understanding of how classroom learning can be applied to everyday situations.

We love hearing about examples like this, where students are making connections between their learning and the world around them.

Well done, Carson, on this well-deserved recognition! 👏

🎓 Prom 2026 – A Night to Remember ✨

We are still reflecting on what was a truly memorable evening at Prom. The atmosphere was filled with celebration, elegance, and a sense of pride as our students marked the end of a significant chapter.

We have had a few enquiries regarding arrivals and departures for Prom, so please see the information below:

🎓 Doors will open at 6:00pm, so please do not arrive before this time.

🚗 If vehicles are making a special Prom entrance, they may drive around the mini roundabout to drop students off. However, vehicles must not park in front of the school.

🅿️ Parking will be available in the school yard. The gates will be open, and staff will be on hand at entrance points to help direct traffic.

📸 Parents and family members who would like to see students arrive are welcome to gather around the mini roundabout to take photographs. We will also have a photographer on site to capture the occasion.

⏰ Prom will finish at 10:00pm, although students may be collected earlier if required.

We look forward to celebrating with our students and making it a memorable evening for everyone!

🎉 Notice to Leyburn Residents – Year 11 Prom 🎉

We’re excited to be hosting our Year 11 Prom tomorrow evening at Wensleydale School, and we wanted to give a quick heads-up to our local community.

📍 There may be some minor traffic disruptions on the main road outside school between 5:30pm and 6:00pm as students arrive for the event. We’ll do our best to keep everything moving smoothly and appreciate your patience and understanding.

This week, our Year 10 Hospitality and Catering students have been taking on the Tunnock's Teacake Challenge!

As part of the challenge, students were tasked with creating and presenting dishes featuring the iconic Tunnock's Teacake. They demonstrated excellent creativity, presentation skills, and attention to detail throughout the process.

A huge thank you to Swaledale Festival for organising and providing such a fantastic musical experience for our Year 7 students on Friday 5th June.

We were delighted to welcome Janice Burns and Jon Doran, who performed for the whole of Y7 as part of the Swaledale Festival. Their engaging performance showcased exceptional musicianship and gave our students a wonderful opportunity to experience live folk music up close.

We are incredibly grateful to Swaledale Festival, Janice, and Jon for sharing their talent and passion with us.

🏃‍♀️ Well done to Jake!

At the beginning of June, Jake took part in the Race for Life 3K to help raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Through his fantastic effort and determination, Jake raised an amazing £177.50 for this important cause. Every pound raised will help support life-saving research and make a difference to people affected by cancer.

We are incredibly proud of Jake's achievement and commitment to supporting others. Well done Jake!

We are incredibly proud to support Luke, one of our students, who will be taking part in a Junior Mini Shearathon in memory of his brother, Aaron.

Luke will be joined by his dad, Andrew, and godfather, Richard, who are undertaking the extraordinary challenge of a 24-hour Shearathon, shearing lambs continuously to honour the memories of Aaron, Hannah and Will.

The event aims to raise awareness and vital funds for Brake, the road safety charity, The UK Sepsis Trust, and PAPYRUS, helping to prevent other families from experiencing the loss of loved ones through greater awareness, education and support.

This challenge will require tremendous determination, resilience and strength, both physically and mentally. We know our school community will join us in wishing Luke, Andrew and Richard every success as they take on this inspiring challenge.

The Shearathon will conclude with a charity speed shear, followed by music and community celebrations.

Our KS3 Enterprise Club enrichment group has just completed their magazine project, and Mrs Foster is incredibly proud of the teamwork, creativity, commitment, and professionalism shown throughout the design and presentation process.

The students worked hard to bring their ideas to life and produced some fantastic final magazines. Well done to everyone involved for their dedication and collaborative spirit!
