However, busy routines, safety concerns and limited access to outdoor space can make it harder for families, schools and carers to prioritise time in nature.

Our latest guide shares simple, practical ideas to help children reconnect with the natural world, including:

The end of a school year is always bittersweet. Whilst it's great to look forward to the long summer holiday, we also know that it's time to say goodbye to our class of lovely year 6 children. Here they are at their final assembly of primary school.
We all smiled through our tears.

Keeping Children Safe really is everyone's responsibilty and all connected to the school would like to say a big 'Thank You' to one of our parents, Sam Thompson. He noticed an issue one morning at the front of the school and came back the following day to suggest the installation of barriers to help improve our road safety.
It took a while but we got there in the end. Here he is, at the official opening ceremony!

Nature Club on Friday. We had planned to light the fire but it was so hot (and we talked about sparks near VERY dry wood!). We sat under the trees, had a drink and an unroasted marshmallow and enjoyed the shade.

Year 5 had a fantastic day of outdoor learning on Grinton Moor today, packed with exciting hands-on experiences and opportunities to learn about the local environment.

The children discovered how traditional dry stone walls are built and the important work that goes into caring for our moorland landscapes. They also explored the fascinating world of bees, sheep shearing and the care of livestock, as well as getting up close to a variety of moorland wildlife. We were delighted to see and hear about different birds and mammals that call the moor home, including the iconic curlew and even mink.

We loved watching the working dogs and, to round off the day, everyone enjoyed the chance to try some locally sourced game, tasting venison and pheasant burgers - delicious! Venison was the winner but pheasant a very close second place.

It was a wonderful day of discovery, curiosity and enthusiasm and the children showed excellent behaviour throughout. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the experience so memorable including and
