A fabulous team effort getting our Bonfire Guy ready for Newick Bonfire Night on 31st October.

Bluey shall be heading to Newick Village Hall on the morning of the 31st October - and you can go along that day to vote (bring your pennies to vote for your favourite Guy).

Well done to all the children who helped us to get Bluey made. A fab job everyone!

The Committee and staff shall be hosting a Christmas Bedtime Story event on the evening of Thursday 3rd December (5pm-6pm) for our families.

Bring your children back to Preschool in their pjs for a bedtime Christmas story to kick off the festive season - whilst enjoying a hot chocolate and gingerbread man.

All siblings are very welcome to join us too!

£4.00 per child (this includes a gingerbread man, hot chocolate, the story and some Xmas stickers to take home).

Refreshments for adults shall be available to purchase on the evening also.

**Please note that for safety reasons, parents/carers must remain with their children for this event.**

We shall start selling tickets for this event after October Half Term.

Dear All,

I would like to remind people of the following points to remember for snacks and packed lunches (these are in line with EYFS guidelines):

- We are a strictly no nut setting, this includes any products which may contain nuts.

- If you provide fruits such as grapes, blueberries etc or indeed other foods which could potentially cause a choking hazard, please provide these cut up into manageable sized pieces for chewing. Don't worry if you sometimes forget though as staff can do this also if needs be; it just helps us out if they are done beforehand.

- Please try to minimise as much as possible processed foods in your childs snacks/packed lunches (particularly the items as shown in the image attached as these are known to be quite harmful to young teeth if they are had too frequently and are also known to be a choking hazard).

Most importantly please do provide foods which you know your child will happily eat/enjoys eating so that we can ensure they are getting sufficient nutrition in their sessions.

At snack time children are offered milk or water - they choose.

We shall also be starting to reintroduce our cooking and food tasting sessions in the near future.

We have a number of children with us at present who are in the early stages of language aqcuisition/who have delayed speech/hearing loss, or who are EAL (english as an additional language).

As part of our promise for Inclusion we have Makaton embedded into our daily provision to support communication for all (alongside other strategies listed below). We continue to model the attached Makaton signs to all of our children as this empowers each of them communicating with each other.

If parents/carers wish to support with this at home please see the attached signs - for clarity there are also lots of videos to be found on Youtube which model them (just make sure they are Makaton signs not BSL (British sign language) or ASL (American sign language).

Other total communication strategies used by all staff here are:
- objects of reference
- visual cues (widgets)
- visual timetable
- choice boards
- now and next boards
- repetition and modelling of key words

The Preschool Committee shall be hosting a Nearly New Sale to help to raise funds for the Preschool to support us in continuing to purchase new resources and toys.

Pass on toys, clothes and books which your children no longer need/use and grab yourself some bargains ahead of Christmas.

More info shall come out closer to the time - please do keep hold of any donations you may have in the meantime.

Of course we shall have a Cake and Sweet Treat sale on the day too!

Sunday 29th November, 2pm to 3.30pm
(Donations can be dropped off at the Preschool during opening hours on Friday 27th November or between 10am and 11am on Sunday 29th November).

If you are able to lend a hand on the day please do let us know as we shall never say no to more helpers for fundraising events.

As a not-for-profit charity run setting we are very thankful for all the fundraising efforts made by the Committee and other volunteers.

Dear All,

Each Autumn and Summer we have an outing which staff, children and parents/carers attend together. In previous years we have stuck to Washbrooks Farm, however this year we have decided to try something a bit different in Autumn Term 2 and have a slot reserved at Sharnfold Farm to take part in some fun festive activities and a Christmas Trail etc.

The trip to Washbrooks shall still take place in the summer term as usual.

The trip is taking place on Friday 4th December (timings tbc).
Cost of the outing is £5 per person (payable to the Preschool and we shall then pay for everyone in bulk).

Please note that the Preschool shall be closed on Friday 4th December so that staff can attend the trip also.

Due to the nature of the outing, children must be accompanied by a parent/carer and it is also down to families to arrange their own transport to and from the farm.

Please note that this trip is not compulsory - however we would love to see lots of you there (our trips out altogether are always such a lovely way to get as much of our Preschool community together for some fun).

If you would like to attend please drop me an email to confirm how many spaces you would like and please make the payment to the Preschool bank account at the same time with the payment reference of 'Sharnfold Trip'.

The rain didn't stop the soup making outside this morning - lots of fun had using lentils, sand, conkers, leaves, pinecones, oats, pumpkins, gourds and seeds to make all sorts of interesting soup concoctions in our imaginative play.
