✈️ What a fantastic 7 days at Flight Sport Aviation!

It’s been a week full of milestones and celebrations — three first solo flights and one brand new pilot!

👏 Rob managed to squeeze in his first solo during his lunch break from work,
👏 Alan proved that retirement is the perfect time to take to the skies,
👏 Louis achieved his first solo after work — dedication pays off!
🎉 And a special congratulations to Will, who passed his General Skills Test with flying colours in his very own Thruster aircraft! He’s now the proud holder of his National Private Pilot’s Licence, flying from his own farm.

✈️ First Solo Alert! 🎉

A huge congratulations to Colin, who took to the skies alone today for the very first time as part of training towards his NPPL! 🛩️

That first solo flight is an unforgettable milestone for every pilot — the moment when all the hours of learning, practising, and perfecting your skills come together. Colin handled it brilliantly, and we couldn’t be prouder.

🎉GST PASS!🎉 Congratulations to Dave for passing his final skills test today for his NPPL(M)! 🥳 Dave has only been having flying lessons since October and today he fulfilled his dream! The NPPL(M) is a licence to fly microlights which have a maximum take off weight of 600kgs, what are you waiting for! Get in touch and be more Dave! 🥳✈️☀️

Jet2 and Iberia have both launched new cadet pilot training programs aimed at preparing future flight crews amid a global pilot shortage. Iberia will admit 12 trainees for its partially funded course with FTE Jerez in Spain. Applications are open until May 25, with training set to begin this September.

Meanwhile, Jet2’s new Jet2FlightPath program offers fully funded ATPL training for up to 60 cadets. The course runs for 18 months across training centers in the UK, Spain, and the US. Graduates will receive Airbus or Boeing type ratings before joining Jet2’s flight deck.

Both airlines see these programs as strategic investments. Boeing forecasts Europe will need over 150,000 pilots by 2043. As air travel rebounds, these cadet pathways offer a way to secure talent while removing cost barriers for aspiring pilots.
