Lewes Speakers Club We help people speak confidently and eloquently in public. Are You Nervous Giving Presentations? Are You Struggling To Write A Speech?

Or Are You Looking For A Place To Practise Speaking? If your answer is "yes", you have come to the right place. At Lewes Speakers Club, you will have an opportunity to practise, refine your public speaking skill, and learn from experienced public speakers. We welcome people to come and observe until you are ready to join. We are part of Toastmasters International, a non-profit international organ

isation, founded in 1924 to help people better their public communication skill. Join us and take the first step to becoming a better public speaker and communicator!

We had a returning member last night 🐶 … they steal the limelight again, and the President’s Applause!

To have a more speech-rich evening, and break away from our usual structure to shake things up a bit, we did a show and tell. So very importantly- we must disclose the light hearted results:

🏆 Most challenging object to talk about: Mick and his shoehorn!

🏆 Best object: Paul’s Led Zeppelin album.

🏆 Overall favourite speech of the night: Jane’s pegulingan (percussion instrument from Balinese gamelan music!)

Bravo! 🥇

Next week at Lewes Speakers Club …

We’re doing a themed Show & Tell! Bring along absolutely anything you fancy, big or small, and tell us about it for 4–5 minutes.

We’re doing it a little differently this time so every member gets the chance to take part and give a speech; no other roles, just speeches!

And yes… there will be fun prizes for some of the speeches! 🏆

Tonight it's Speakers' Night! 🎤

We have three speeches lined up, and we're really looking forward to hearing them.

There will also be opportunities for impromptu mini speeches, along with constructive feedback to help support your growth and confidence.

A new Toastmasters year means a new committee! 🎉

A huge thank you to everyone who served on last year's committee for your time and hard work in helping our club thrive.

We're excited to welcome this year's committee, made up of senior and brand new members. Toastmasters encourages rotation of leadership- keeping roles fresh, energised and giving equal opportunities for everyone to grow! 🌱

Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to support the club, we really appreciate you volunteering your time.

Here's to another year of inspiring speeches, supportive evaluations, plenty of laughter, and personal growth. We look forward to seeing both familiar and new faces at our upcoming meetings!

Westgate Chapel was cool 😎 last night and so were our speakers!!

A ‘speakerthon’ we had speeches of different lengths & styles all evening. And a sneaky impromptu session for our guests who did incredibly well.

A cool chapel to inspire and connect.

Three amazing tips for keynote speakers:

1. Never be late!

2.Make sure you’ve got all you
tech ( including chargers etc)

3.Remember “ If it is to be, it’s up to me”….

In other words, always have a plan B. For example: practice your speech without the slides.

Lovely evening as always and we also elected in our new committee and President.
