This should be a reel but I’m on a train so I’m going to type it.
Being involved in an altercation has a huge psychological impact. Even the most low key assaults have left people deeply affected.
One example is a lady who was sat in her car in traffic, and a teen thought it would be funny to sit in her passenger seat, while his mates filmed it and laughed.
Their intention wasn’t to harm her, it was just a prank. But the problem was that she was in her safety bubble and it go burst quite dramatically. She described herself as someone pretty tough, and the impact this has on her, shocked her almost more than the incident itself. And that’s the thing, you do not know, no matter how ‘tough’ you are, how something will affect you until you experience it.
So she wasn’t even assaulted, but her personal safety was breached, and her body experienced it as trauma that she had to process!
Imagine the impact of having to actually have a physical fight with someone.
Now understand why teaching people to avoid this is so important to me.
Understand how teaching fighting skills and pretending that’s self defence completely ignores the trauma that this could create in your brain.
I want to protect you from that trauma.
