📚16 Years Teaching Experience

Welcome to Sussex Neurodiversity Support. I am a Specialist Teacher with an MSc in Educational Neuroscience. I provide consultancy, tutoring and informative assessments to neurodivergent students and families across the south east and online. I have worked in both state and private schools for 16 years but now mostly work with students 1:1 in alternative provision. Currently, I work with children

and young people ranging from 3 years old up to sixth form with mild to moderate learning needs. I started Sussex Neurodiversity Support after witnessing the challenges of an oversubscribed education system for families, students and SENDCos alike. I aim to offer joined-up support that leads to tangible progress at school and at home; breaking the negative cycle that undermines student success. Website https://www.sussexneuro.co.uk

Why have I signed up for another course?! 😂 I actually applied for Level 3 Understanding Autism while ago and I didn’t think I was eligible for the funding - but it turns out I am! I’m finding it really interesting so far, despite me thinking I already knew a lot 🤔 This will help me when undertaking some new & exciting roles that I have been approached about (stay tuned!) 💡

…and just like that the academic year is over! ✏️ A massive well done to my “class of 2026”, spanning 8 year groups, 14 schools and 4 countries! You all have brilliantly different minds and so many skills and talents to be proud of. A special mention to those finishing year 6 as it’s big life moment 💜 As it stands, I am fully booked for September but please enquire to be added to the waiting list and/or there may space for a summer slot. Happy holidays all ☀️

I am pleased to announce that I am now trained in Pathological Demand Avoidance. I have been working with students with PDA for some years and most of what I know, I learnt from them! The reason I chose to do this training was to support them (and future students) as best I can. I feel validated and confident that I passed with distinction (82/100) 🎉

Little details and simple routines make 1:1 lessons run smoothly! To me, all of these factors are a must for success & progress with neurodivergent students.

This is, of course, alongside fun, personalised and flexible learning tasks with a clear, dependable routine each week. Consistent timings, environment and control of sensory factors is also key (e.g. lights, smells, interfering noise, temperature and clutter) and I try to keep this to all to a minimum where possible. Online lessons can’t always include all of these things so can you suggest any more to add to the list?

☀️Note: I am fully booked for tutoring now but please enquire to be added to the waiting list for the Autumn Term or Summer Holiday slots☀️

New for Summer Term 2026: group sessions! I love running group sessions and it is a great way to foster collaborative learning and socialisation, as well give a more economical option to parents. These booster sessions are shorter than a 1:1 tutoring lesson and aim to develop specific cognitive skills that underpin wider learning. Group sessions can be booked by parents or by schools, depending on the context. Follow this link to learn more https://www.sussexneuro.co.uk/group-sessions

Parents usually have a feeling that their child’s learning is being affected by something, but the cause can be unclear…Seeking diagnosis can give answers and crucial support but this may not feel right if a child is young or their needs are variable. Starting with a First Steps Assessment (neurodevelopmental assessment) is a good way to analyse an individual as a whole, rather than focussing too specifically on one condition too early on. Neurodevelopmental reports give you and your school specifically tailored recommendations for your child to help them progress. If a diagnosis seems likely, this will be discussed with you and a plan made for the future. First Steps Assessments can be completed at Sussex Neurodiversity Support starting at £400 with the components of the assessment tailored to each case. 💡 Note: Pre-assessment forms for Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and Sensory Profile are also available without assessment & I will let you know if you are at Clinical Threshold for referral. Message me to know more.

We made it to half term! Spring Term 1 can be tough due illnesses, lack of light and the Christmas come-down...for many students, exam practise begins and can feel overwhelming. However, it is time for a little rest and to take a moment to notice Spring returning! I am working next week on Tuesday and Wednesday only, with teaching hours from 9-12. Meetings and consultations are available in the afternoon. Enjoy your February glimmers 🥞💝🌼

What does cohesive support look like? I think it looks a bit like this. I have been working with some families since 2020 when I began tutoring in lockdown whilst working part time as a SENDCo. These families and I have worked TOGETHER to understand their child's needs, evidence this with data, ensure progression and secure support from the Local Authority. In many cases it has taken years...but I aim to be here as a consistent source of support. It can be exhausting when your child's teacher or INA changes often...the SENDCo leaves...your case worker goes off sick...all of these things happen; and let me tell you, these people are exhausted too! So this is why I aim to be here for you (and your school) throughout your journey to help you navigate it.

Here are my Top 10 nuggets of information for new, old and prospective families! 📣 This is an update from my older Q&A post as some things have changed or evolved over time. I always offer 30 minutes of initial free consultation anyway, so any queries not listed can be discussed then ☎️

Happy new year and new term! I am back and would like to share some exciting news...I have changed my name 😲🎉 I have been thinking this over during my time off and feel that 'Sussex Neurodiversity Support' is more in line with the service I aim to provide to my lovely families and future clients; with a focus on learning, progress and support over assessment ❤️ My email, webpage and other pages can all still be found in the same places and have been updated to show 2026 updates on rates and services. I look forward to getting back to it (slowly) and will be reaching out over the coming weeks 👋
