On Friday, Year 3 went to Lyme Park for the day. Even though the weather was cold and rainy, everyone persevered and did not give up! We walked over ladders, styles and muddy paths. We saw deer in the mist and got lots of time to play in the playground at the end of the day, when the sun finally came out! We are very proud of all the children and how they used a growth mindset to tackle obstacles and enjoy the great outdoors!

A huge thanks to everyone who came to our after school Eid event! Not only was money raised for the school fund (the total will be announced soon) but it was a lovely community event!

As well as lots of fantastic food donations and chocolates, we had parents and carers who decorated the hall, helped serve food and a special shout out to Adam's parents who wrote people's names in Arabic calligraphy with a printed picture of them using their camera - all for free!

A great big thanks to all staff, the Year 6 helpers and our amazing parent helpers who made the event the success it was!

A massive thank you to everyone who donated for our Ramadan fundraiser for Barakah Food Aid - the response was amazing!
Manzoor came to Ladybarn to pick up the donations from all three schools and was not only impressed with the generosity of our families, but also the behaviour of the Year 5 children who helped him take the donations to his car.

Donations will be distributed to needy families in Manchester as soon as possible as well as to some local churches Manzoor is also working with.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Manzoor for helping many of our families over the years and we know his support has been extremely appreciated.

During the first week of this half term, Year 3 had the opportunity to work with some chefs from the company 'We Can Cook'. They provide free workshops for children to explore fresh, healthy meals and we were lucky enough to have them in for three mornings. The children loved trying all of the new foods and found out that they liked more foods than they realised! What was even better was that the food we ate would have otherwise been thrown away!

Today Years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a visit from the author and illustrator, Ramzee. He told us about how he became a cartoonist and now writes children's books. He even taught the children some 'cheat codes' for how to become brilliant artists and everyone enjoyed trying out their new skills. We even created some cartoon characters of our own! Thank you to Read Manchester for organising the visit as part of the 'See Myself in Books' festival and also for donating some of Ramzee's books to our Year 4, 5 and 6 classes for the children to share and enjoy!
