🌟 Paxton Nursery Weekly Round Up 24.0826- 28.08.26 🌟
🌻 Sunflower Room Highlights 🌻

Our new Sunflower children have completed their first full week at nursery. We have been so excited to welcome them and help them settle into their new surroundings. It has been lovely watching them explore the room, make new friends and build relationships with the adults and children around them. 💛

✏️ Early Writing Skills – The children have enjoyed lots of opportunities to develop their early writing and mark-making skills, both indoors and outdoors. Using a range of tools and resources, they created pictures, wrote shopping lists and practised writing their names. These activities encouraged creativity, confidence and an interest in early writing.
🚲 Physical Skills – We made the most of the lovely dry weather with lots of outdoor physical play. The children had great fun riding bikes and scooters and exploring the trim trail, developing their balance, coordination, strength and confidence as they moved around the outdoor area.
🏕️ Den Building – We had lots of fun working together to build dens. The children used their imaginations and problem-solving skills as they decided how to build their dens and made sure there was enough space for everyone. This was a wonderful opportunity to develop teamwork, communication and cooperation.
🍪 Iced Biscuits – The children enjoyed making and decorating their own yummy iced biscuits. They mixed the icing sugar, learning how to achieve the right consistency, before choosing their favourite toppings. This activity supported fine motor skills, independence and decision-making, and, of course, we enjoyed eating our delicious creations 😋

🌻 What a fantastic first week it has been in Sunflower Room. We are so proud of our new children and can’t wait for more learning, exploring, friendships and fun next week🌻

A huge thank you to WA Garage Auto Services for their very kind donation of scales to our nursery.

The scales have sparked so much curiosity and excitement among the children as they explored, experimented and tried to make them balance. ⚖️✨

It has been wonderful to see their little minds at work as they learn through hands-on play and discovery.

Thank you, WA Garage Auto Services, for supporting our children’s learning and helping us create such engaging opportunities for exploration 🌟

Paxton nursery highlights of the week🌻🌈🦋

Lots of Outdoor Play this week -

This week we have made the most of the beautiful sunshine by spending lots of time outdoors, exploring, learning and having fun together. We talked about the importance of staying safe in the sun by wearing our hats, applying sun cream and finding shady spots when we needed a break from the sunshine.☀️

The children enjoyed sharing a healthy snack outdoors, tasting a variety of delicious fruits while chatting with their friends and making the most of the lovely weather.🍓🍌

Our construction area was full of teamwork and imagination as the children worked together to build fantastic models using the large blocks. They shared ideas, solved problems and celebrated each other’s creations.🧱

The children enjoying playing within the water area where there was lots of cooperative play - the children shared resources together and explored different resources. The children loved the solar powered water fountain having various discussions about how this worked.

There was plenty of active play too, with the children developing their balance and coordination on the bouncy hoppers, as well as chasing, popping and blowing bubbles, filling the garden with smiles and laughter. It has been wonderful to see everyone enjoying the fresh air, building friendships and developing new skills through their outdoor adventures.🫧

Football Frenzy Day⚽️

What a fantastic day of football fun as we celebrated Scotland and the excitement of the World Cup! Everyone got into the team spirit by wearing blue and proudly dressing in their Scotland strips. Faces were painted with Scottish flags and football designs, helping everyone show their support for Scotland.
Our creative station was buzzing as participants designed and made their own Scottish flags, showing off their artistic skills while learning more about Scotland and its football heritage.

The excitement continued with a variety of football games and challenges, where everyone had the chance to practise their dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork. There was plenty of energy, laughter, and encouragement as everyone joined in, regardless of their football experience.

At lunchtime, the football fun continued with a special football-themed menu. Everyone enjoyed delicious football pizzas, cheese pizza which was followed by a refreshing Rocket ice pole for dessert, making the celebrations even more memorable.
It was a brilliant day full of creativity, sport, delicious food, and Scottish pride, bringing everyone together to celebrate the beautiful game. Well done to everyone who took part and helped make our Football Frenzy Day such a fantastic success! ⚽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🌻Sunflower room weekly learning🌻

The Children have been exploring the different properties of water and gravity. Staff demonstrated that when a bucket of water was swung quickly, gravity helped keep the water inside. The children took turns trying the activity themselves, observing whether they could keep the water in the bucket whilst moving it.💧🪣

The children have enjoyed lots of different exercise opportunities this week through dance. They have participated in Danny Go and Yoga sticky kids, exploring how their heart rate increased when exercising and slowed down when doing yoga. 🧘🏽

They had a mini disco in the sensory room using a disco ball and speakers, telling staff their favourite songs to dance too. 🎶

Through outdoor play opportunities, the children helped create hop scotch games using chalk and mark making. With some adult support, they were able to use different types of hopping to complete the game.

Today, the children participated in preparing items for our Enterprise Summer Fayre. They worked together to create a range of products to sell, including filling sweety cones filled with popcorn and then placing a nice sticker on the front. The children showed excitement and enthusiasm as they discussed their ideas and contributed to the making process.✅

The children worked collaboratively, sharing resources, taking turns, and helping one another when needed. They engaged in conversations about the purpose of the Summer Fayre, understanding that the items they were making would be sold to families and members of the community.🧁

The activity provided opportunities for communication and language development as the children explained their ideas, listened to others, and followed instructions. They demonstrated confidence and a sense of achievement as they viewed their finished products and talked about selling them at the fayre.

The children and their families then joined in with our end of PEEP Celebration. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the children's learning journeys and celebrate the progress they have made throughout the programme.🫶
