Our Preschool Garden Club has been busy our planter this week! The children had so much fun planting lavender, tomatoes, green beans, and beautiful flowers. They also helped water the existing flowers planted by the baby room, earlier last week.

Teaching children about planting and nature is such an important part of early learning. Gardening helps children develop patience, responsibility, and confidence while encouraging curiosity about how things grow. It also gives them hands-on experiences that support sensory development, healthy habits, and a love for the outdoors.

We are so proud of our little gardeners and can’t wait to watch everything grow together! 🌱✨

There’s something truly special about taking learning beyond the classroom 🌿☀️

This week, our children enjoyed a wonderful outdoor yoga session, embracing the fresh air, open space, and calming sounds of nature. Practising yoga outside not only made the experience even more exciting, but it also brought a wide range of benefits for their development and wellbeing.

Yoga supports children’s physical development by improving balance, coordination, flexibility, and strength. Through simple poses and movements, they learn how to control their bodies, develop core muscles, and build confidence in what they can do. It’s also fantastic for supporting fine and gross motor skills, which are essential as they grow.

But the benefits go far beyond the physical. Yoga encourages mindfulness, helping children to slow down, focus on their breathing, and become more aware of their feelings. It’s a powerful way to support emotional wellbeing, reduce stress, and promote a sense of calm — something that’s so important even at a young age.

Taking yoga outdoors adds another layer of enrichment. Being in nature helps boost mood, sparks curiosity, and allows children to connect with the world around them. The freedom of open space encourages them to move more confidently and express themselves in new ways.

This experience links beautifully with the EYFS framework:
✨ Physical Development – building strength, balance, and coordination
✨ Personal, Social and Emotional Development – promoting self-regulation, confidence, and wellbeing
✨ Understanding the World – engaging with the natural environment
✨ Communication and Language – following instructions and learning new vocabulary through movement

Most importantly, the children had so much fun! Watching their smiles, focus, and enthusiasm reminds us how valuable these moments are.

Happy World Crayon Day!🖍️

Mark making is very important in early years because it’s the foundation for writing, communication, and even thinking. It might look like simple scribbles, but it actually supports a lot of key development areas.

First, it builds early writing skills

Before children can form letters or words, they need to understand that marks carry meaning. When they draw lines, circles, or patterns, they’re beginning to connect movement with communication—this is the first step toward writing.

It strengthens fine motor skills

Holding crayons, chalk, or brushes helps develop the small muscles in the hands and fingers. These are essential for later skills like handwriting, using scissors, and even doing up buttons.

It encourages creativity and expression

Mark making gives children a way to express ideas, emotions, and experiences—especially before they have the vocabulary to explain them clearly.

It supports cognitive development

Children start to plan what they’re doing, make decisions, and experiment with cause and effect (e.g., “what happens if I press harder?”). This links closely to problem-solving and early thinking skills.

It develops confidence and independence

When children see that their marks “mean something,” they feel proud and more willing to explore and take risks in their learning.

It links to communication and language

Talking about their drawings or marks helps build vocabulary and storytelling skills. For example, a child might explain that their scribble is “a map” or “my family,” which shows symbolic thinking.

In short, mark making isn’t just messy play—it’s a crucial stepping stone toward literacy and overall development.

🦷 National Oral Health Day🦷

At Kattz Kidz, we know that healthy smiles start early!
Teaching children about oral health helps them build good habits that can last a lifetime. From brushing teeth twice a day to making healthier food choices, these simple routines play a big role in preventing tooth decay and keeping little smiles bright.

By introducing oral hygiene in a fun and engaging way, we support children in becoming confident and independent in caring for themselves. Establishing these habits early not only protects their teeth and gums but also contributes to their overall health and wellbeing.
