The Year 11 trip to Normandy during the first week of half term was once again a great success. The students were absolutely fabulous throughout and threw themselves into all of the activities on offer.
Highlights included:
✅Walking across the sands and through the rivers around the spectacular Mont St Michel.
✅An afternoon on a donkey farm, learning about one farmer’s passionate defence of an endangered species.
✅Shopping in a local market.
✅Questioning a regional tourist office employee.
✅A moving day visiting key sites associated with D-Day and a trip to the Bayeux Tapestry.
A wonderfully varied and action-packed week. Bravo tout le monde!

Today, the whole Prep School came together during assembly to mark the annual Harvest event. Thank you to all our families who donated food for the food bank. I have been told it is our biggest contribution yet, and I know it is much needed and appreciated by the charity. Christopher Baker, from the Christian Initiative in Schools organisation in Letchworth, visited the school and led the assembly for us. We all reflected on the meaning of Harvest and the different relevant words that can be formed from ‘Harvest’. We also took time to be thankful for the food that we have.

At St. Francis, we understand that our students need support to thrive academically and emotionally. Our Pastoral Hub is a dedicated space designed to provide holistic support for our students’ wellbeing.
The Hub is available for all students across the age range as a tranquil and welcoming environment where students can speak to our wonderful Pastoral Support Officer (PSO), have a quiet moment, or simply spend some time with our school dog, Molly. Molly is owned by Mrs Spence and spends every day during term time at the College. There are many benefits to having a wellbeing dog in the College, including the health and wellbeing of both pupils and staff. Having a dog in school has the potential to help children develop in a range of academic, personal and social areas, including:
✅ Increased attendance at school
✅ Building confidence
✅ Decreasing anxiety
✅ Increased motivation
