We're coming to the end of the Summer Term now but still have a couple sessions left.

Obviously it has been very difficult this last twelve months but both the evening groups have created some wonderful works. Here are just a few examples and I will be posting some of the others soon.

Due to all the stop-starting of the last year, we are going to run an extra Life Drawing term this summer and also some short one off sessions. The short sessions will include Life Drawing, Portraiture and Oil workshops.

I will post more information in the next couple of weeks.

Two amazing new pieces from the very talent Miles, of our Wednesday evening Life Drawing sessions.
Wonderful work Miles!!!

Another amazing piece of work for today.
The is Dave, from our Wednesday evening class. This is a self portrait, life study.
Dave set his phone on to a 10 second delay setting and got in to position. He then worked from the image.
His drawing is A3 in size and took him just 4 hours!!! Incredible.
Just to confirm, I have censored this for Facebook's requirements!!!!!!
Wonderful work and something that you can all have a go at doing.
It will be great to display some of your finished pieces but please do send them to me first, in case they do need censoring!!!!!

A fabulous piece sent in by one of the Tuesday evening group.
There is super attention to character and detail, and a lovely use of colour!!
Well done Sandra!

A touchingly beautiful portrait here , by Ian, from our Wednesday evening sessions.
The subtle use of charcoal demostrates one of the many and varied qualities of the medium.

Because of the current health situation it is unknown yet which of our scheduled classes will take place. I will be monitoring the situation and will resume things as soon as is advisable.

Therefore, I shall be keeping in touch with with you all, with updates. So watch this space!!

In addition I shall be posting some exercise ideas and some short video demos.

First exercise. Draw your feet!!!
Tips
1. Get yourself into a comfortable position, where you can see your feet without moving.
2. Try this sketch just using 1 colour pencil.
3. Try just using tiny lines, dots and dashes (basic mark making!)
4. Focus on the details, allowing your eye to constantly travel backwards and forwards. Make a mark each time you see a detail or something interesting. (The shadow by a toenail, the crease in a toe the soft shadow from your ankle.)
5. Try not to draw an outline.
6. Try not to worry about proportions but do concentrate on the alignment of things. Notice where your toes touch each other.
7. Enjoy, no ones watching you!!!

Brilliant session on Wednesday evening. The wonderful Emma Louise was modelling for the class.
These aren't all of the final pose studies, but nearly. (I think there are three missing, it was a big group!!)
