Nothing beats the power of in-person collaboration. 🌍✨
Last week, Carina Balbo, FCIL, CL attended her first ISO/TC 37 annual meeting, hosted by the European Parliament in Strasbourg! 🇪🇺
It was an intensive week of pushing the translation, interpreting, and language technology sectors forward. Here is a snapshot of what we tackled:
🔹 Awards & Milestones: Celebrating Maryse M. Benhoff’s 9-year tenure as SC 5 Chair. 👏
🔹 AI & Post-Editing: Working on ISO 18587 (Post-editing of non-human output). 🤓
🔹 Core Standards: Reviewing the redevelopment of ISO 17100. 🤓
🔹 In-House & Certified Translation: ISO 25391 and ISO 25368. 🤓
We wrapped up the week with the SC 5 and ISO/TC 37 plenaries, exhausted but incredibly inspired. 🤓🤓
While virtual work is efficient, building these relationships face-to-face is unmatched. 😊
This participation was made possible through the support of BSI and the Association of Translation Companies (ATC), to whom we are deeply grateful.

This case study illustrates the importance of human-centric service in the professional translation industry.
It details a specific project where a client required certified English-to-German translations on an urgent basis but lacked access to digital communication tools. By offering in-person document handling and physical handovers, My Language Hub bypassed standard automated procedures to accommodate the user's unique needs.
This highlights how our flexible service models can resolve complex logistical challenges, such as a 36-hour deadline for international travel documents.
The key takeaway: a balance between professional certification standards and a traditional, accessible approach to customer care.

Navigating the realm of legal translation comes with its own set of distinct challenges, deeply rooted in cultural and jurisdictional contexts.
Machine translation systems thrive on extensive libraries of previously translated legal documents.
However, when these datasets are imbalanced—favouring certain legal systems, jurisdictions, or document types—AI can unwittingly perpetuate those biases.
Understanding these complexities is crucial to ensure legal translations are both accurate and fair.

🚨 When AI translation goes wrong in healthcare, patients pay the price.
A pharma company's AI-translated patient leaflets created dosage ambiguities that could have led to medication errors. The rollout was halted. Cost? Hundreds of thousands.
In medical translation, "good enough" isn't good enough.
Our latest article breaks down why AI bias in healthcare translation is a patient safety issue, not just a language problem. Link in bio 👆
