My Language Hub is a language service company based in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, England. Our Linguistic Division deals with legal, business, technical, medical translations, localisation, and interpreting services, just to name a few; and our Educational Division offers foreign language tuition and training in Spanish, English as a Foreign Language (EFL), and IELTS coaching. Our mission is to enable our clients to engage in both commercial and academic/educational activities, allowing them to achieve their goals:
– whether to do business with overseas markets, thus increasing their profitability, or
– to study foreign languages and achieving their academic potential, at whatever age. Our primary objective is to work in partnership with our clients in order to assist them to communicate effectively at an international level through a myriad of industry sectors. We also work with a team of professional linguists champion the value of language services in today’s world. Nothing beats the power of in-person collaboration. 🌍✨

Last week, Carina Balbo, FCIL, CL attended her first ISO/TC 37 annual meeting, hosted by the European Parliament in Strasbourg! 🇪🇺

It was an intensive week of pushing the translation, interpreting, and language technology sectors forward. Here is a snapshot of what we tackled:

🔹 Awards & Milestones: Celebrating Maryse M. Benhoff’s 9-year tenure as SC 5 Chair. 👏
🔹 AI & Post-Editing: Working on ISO 18587 (Post-editing of non-human output). 🤓
🔹 Core Standards: Reviewing the redevelopment of ISO 17100. 🤓
🔹 In-House & Certified Translation: ISO 25391 and ISO 25368. 🤓

We wrapped up the week with the SC 5 and ISO/TC 37 plenaries, exhausted but incredibly inspired. 🤓🤓

While virtual work is efficient, building these relationships face-to-face is unmatched. 😊
