OUR PHILOSOPHY

Learning is natural
Our aim at Cherry Tree Pre School is to enable children to develop a lifelong love of learning. We provide play opportunities and experiences which encourage children to explore and develop their natural curiosity, to take part, to have a positive approach to challenge, to grow concentration skills, to let their own ideas blossom, to grow problem solving skills, to build resilience and be confident. OUR PRE SCHOOL

We took over Cherry Tree Pre School in September 2018 and continue to provide a caring and safe environment. Sessions take place in a large hall and we make use of our large garden area everyday (Don't forget your wellies, coat, scarf, gloves, sun hat, sun cream!!).

Small children find it hard to understand phrases like "kind hands" or "gently" so we used this fun activity to reinforce this in a practical way. We explained the need to not get water or shampoo into eyes (or bash the adult on the head with a metal jug!)
The children were brilliant! They were so careful and did a really good job with the shampoo and rinsing.
If anyone would like us to wash their hair, feel free to volunteer!

This week we took delivery of a composter for our garden. We do lots of planting so always need soil. The children helped with the building, interpreted the instructions and offered suggestions. (we still ended up with one piece left over!)
Nothing goes to waste at our pre-school. We used the cardboard packaging to make shapes and build dens!

As well as having a huge garden for the children to explore, we also have access to the woods behind with Pix brook running through it!
Sometimes we forget we are near the town with all the lovely wildlife surrounding us.

We had such a lot of fun with shaving foam, colour mixing and markmaking this week. A new sensory experience for some of our children and some lovely vocabulary used to describe the textures. "Fluffy, soft, tickly smooth. 'it's like butter'"
