We have sent the following open letter to Bedfordshire schools:

To Whom It May Concern,

I know how busy you are at this difficult time so I will get straight to the point. I am sending this letter out to as many schools and colleges as I can, requesting support for a petition demanding the active enforcement of the law which prohibits engine idling.

My enquiries with local residents have revealed that schools and supermarkets are widely believed to be the most prominent locations for such offences to occur. This is a problem which is not being addressed seriously enough by local councils, which have the power to fine individuals who do not switch off their engines when asked, but also do not patrol areas where this is a common problem.

Please see the link to the petition below. It would be of enormous benefit if you and as many others as possible in your profession were to lend your support to this campaign. I strongly believe that with enough attention to this problem we can make our environment cleaner and safer for all.

Thanking you in anticipation of your support at a challenging time in your profession.

Yours sincerely

Katherine Vidler
Bedfordshire resident

If you haven’t already seen our school floor it’s been completely brought back to life by Flooring Contracts Ltd (parents from the school). It looks incredible!! Thank you so much. Couldn’t recommend enough.

Well that was one heck of a day! Mrs Darton and Mrs Stojek retired after a combined 65 years at Leedon! Lots of tears were shed, presents given and glasses raised to them both. We wish you all the best and you deserve a long and happy retirement xx

This scooter was taken from outside our school on Wednesday evening during the Year 4 leavers BBQ. If you see it please let us know.

A massive thank you to Leedon Lower School for kindly donating their harvest festival to us we are extremely grateful as this will go towards helping people in need.

Good morning. We have been quiet on Facebook from the beginning of term but from next week we will be using this platform again as a means of communication and celebration.

Tomorrow the school will close at 2pm to allow all staff to attend Barbara Kirby’s funeral at All Saints Church.

Barbara passed away on the first day of this school year after a short illness. We have been remembering Barbara in school and we will come to together as staff and children in school tomorrow for a short assembly before the children go home at 2pm.

Barbara worked at Leedon for 34 years and touched so many lives and will always be a huge part of the Leedon family and will never be forgotten.

Thank you for your support, kind words and cards over the last two weeks. The book of condolence will remain open in the school entrance for anyone who would like to share their memories of Barbara.

Mr Richard Benson

Careers Day at Leedon - today we have a Police Officer, a Firefighter, a Secondary Teacher, a Sales Manager, a Dancer, a Drummer, a Medical Statistician and an Air Steward who have come to talk to the children about their careers. The children are enthralled and it’s great to hear about so many opportunities that the children have as the grow up!!

Dear All

We took the decision to allow children to go home early today from 1.30pm due to temperatures reaching an unprecedented 30+ degrees in most classes along with CO2 levels rising fast.

Tomorrow is predicted to be hotter still and with temperatures not dropping much tonight the school will not have the opportunity to cool down before the morning.

Therefore tomorrow we will ask you to choose whether you send your child to school or not. We WILL be providing a full school day (including before and after school care).

Once you have made this decision please fill in the attached form if you are choosing to keep your child at home. If you do not complete the form attached then your child's absence will be unauthorised. If your child is attending school as normal you do not need to complete the attached form.

Thank you for your patience and understanding

Kind regards

Mr Benson
