Ashbourne Day Nurseries Leighton Buzzard

Ashbourne Day Nurseries Leighton Buzzard Welcome to our Nursery! Welcome to the official Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Leighton Buzzard page!

We are open Monday to Friday (8am-6pm), all year round, and we support the care, education and development of children aged 3 months to 5 years (school age). Our inviting and warm nursery offers flexible and affordable childcare in a home-from-home setting for children aged 3 months to 5 years (school age). The areas within our nursery are dedicated spaces for the different age ranges to ensure we

offer appropriate learning and experiences tailored to that age. Our littlest people (3 to 18 months) spend their time in our Ladybird Room, which is equipped with a milk kitchen area for the safe preparation of formula and milk bottles. The specially designed layout of the room encourages the young children to explore their mobility through crawling, cruising and walking. The focus in the Baby Room is on supporting the children’s transition into nursery, forming attachments and bonds with their practitioners, and developing their skills of self-assurance, self-soothing, and sense of self. As the children develop their confidence in independent walking, feeding and communication, they will begin their transition into the Bumblebee Room (18 months to 2.5 years). Here, there are opportunities for the children to continue to grow their independence, autonomy and self-identity. Through puzzles, story books, sensory trays and role play, the children are supported to expand their vocabulary, practice curiosity and investigation, and begin to develop skills of social interaction. In our Butterfly Room (Preschool, 2.5 years to school leaver), the children enjoy a greater sense of exploration and decision making, as they take more control in leading and designing their own play. The children form friendships and practice cooperative play activities, as well as spending time in smaller, focus groups with their practitioners who scaffold their learning. Our Butterfly children also have the opportunity to attend monthly Forest School sessions, led by a Level 3 Qualified Forest School Practitioner. We have a fantastic outdoor garden space that is divided into areas for the younger and older children to explore, and we have regular trips and outings into the local community, such as going to the nearby park, fields, garden centre, and other local businesses. We have strong partnerships with nearby services, and we have multiple visits a month from volunteers who want to share their experiences with the children. These include visits from the Fire Crew, a Vet Nurse, a Farmer, Builders, a Dentist, the Ambulance Crew, and more! Our children are served seasonal, healthy lunches and snacks daily and we can cater for any dietary requirements as well as support the weaning process for babies. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, supporting all areas of your child’s development from three months until they are ready to go to school. Our early years practitioners monitor each child’s progress and plan a variety of enrichment experiences to support individual development in all areas of learning. We pride ourselves in having a great team of highly qualified and friendly staff who go above and beyond to cater for each individual child's needs. If you would like more information, please feel free to call us on 01525 379678 or send us an email!

Our Butterfly children have been taking part in Science Experiences, like making their own coloured Lava Lamps using oil, water and food colouring. The children carefully measured out the liquids using the measuring jugs and poured them into the bottles, before using the pipettes to gently add the colour. Once the caps were screwed on tight, the children could then give the bottles a big shake and watch as the colours mixed and then separated out.

Yesterday, some of our Butterfly children made their way to visit the residents at Carrington House Care Home. The children practiced Road Safety skills on the walk there and they were so excited to see a helicopter passing by! The children loved doing colouring and sticker art with the residents, before stopping off at the park on the way back to Nursery.

In our Forest School session yesterday, the children listened to a story about planting and growing seeds, before they then planted and watered their own seeds! The children made flower pictures, learnt how to use a bradawl (a new tool!), and helped to build a den in the garden.

Last weekend, we held our Preschool Graduation to celebrate our Butterfly children who are getting ready to transition to school.

The morning started with the Graduation Ceremony- each child donned a Graduation Cap and Gown and walked the Red Carpet up to the stage to receive their Graduation Medal, Certificate and little personalised Graduation Peg Doll! The children then had a blast dancing in the Disco Room (with lots of glow sticks!), getting Face Paint and animal tattoos, and of course, having Ice Cream from our Ice Cream stall.

The day was filled with emotions- plenty of tears were shed from pride, happiness and memories, as well as lots of laughter and excitement for the adventure that is coming up.

We are incredibly proud of our Preschool Graduates and it has been a pleasure to watch them grow and thrive. Good Luck!

During this month's Forest School session, the children were out Bug Hunting in our Garden to see all the different living things that share our outdoor space.

The children also explored lavender scented sensory dough, helped to build and hide in the den and learnt about 3 snake species that are native to the UK.

This morning, some of our Bumblebee and Ladybird children were out and about in Leighton Buzzard putting up posters to advertise our Open Day!

The children enjoyed a sunny walk and a scenic snack break, before popping into the local shop on the way back to buy some strawberries for their friends at Nursery.
