Ashbourne Day Nurseries Leighton Buzzard

Babies have been so creative, using different coloured paints with long grass to create their own pictures. Today's focus was to use fine motor skill holding the grass in their fingers and dipping it into the paint to then press it onto paper. So much messy fun for little hands

Lets get our Pj's on....... We are holding a charity event on the 28th June for CRACKERJACKS CHILDRENS TRUST!!

Children are invited to join us in their pj's and bring along their favourite teddies or bedtime stories to share with us and friends. Please don't forget to bring along some pennies to help us raise some funds for this amazing charity!

Preschool have been very curious about Ants, so we decided to treat them to an ant farm....... And oh what fun we have had today 😆 firstly with the building of the farm and then with the collecting of our very fast and wriggly ants!!! We finished off with some splashing water play once the ants were safely away 🙂

Preschool have had a week of coronation fun!! The children have engaged in lots of opportunities and conversations about our King 👑

A book is a dream that you hold in your hands🥰

We would like to thank all that came to our open day today, it was so lovely spending time with you all and seeing the children enjoy the opportunities that were set up around some of their favourite books 😍

World book day fun 😍 The children came in wearing their favourite book characters today and all looked fabulous!! We had so much fun with opportunities like making Gruffalo crumble, Elmer the elephants and exploring different textures from That's not my.... books. 🥰

World book day is coming!
Thursday 2nd March......... We will celebrating in style with lots of opportunities based around the stories our children love. Fancy dress is optional but it would be lovely to see the children come in to the setting in character 😍

Oh what fun we had doing our ABC children yoga today 😍 Lots of smile's, giggles and stretches!!

Love was in the air yesterday, Happy Valentines to all our children and parents 🥰

The children enjoyed a Goldilocks and the three bears opportunity, they chose the story in the morning and then we extended their play, they made porridge together and with the wooden blocks they then built beds and chairs while role playing the characters of the book!!

So today we had our Christmas concert for all parents to come into the setting and watch their children..... Our children were amazing and done so well, we couldn't be prouder of single one of them that took part 🥰

Saturday night Ashbourne day nurseries attended the NMT awards..... with a massive 6 nominations and 4 finalists within our cluster 🥰 celebrating the amazing work that goes into early years, it was an absolute honour to represent our nursery and getting a nomination 😍 A truly magical night was had meeting such inspirational individuals.

Lets feed the birds!! The children in preschool have been looking at our bird books this week which then got them watching the birds in our garden, so we decided it would be a fantastic idea to make our very bird feeders. We got messy and enjoyed lot of conversations about different bird species. We can not wait to see our visitors in the garden eating their delicious treats!!

A MASSIVE happy 1 year work anniversary to our Abbie! You a real asset to LB and we do appreciate every single thing you do for the setting!! Thank you for being your awesome amazing self 🥰

Halloween party fun........spooky dancing, potion making and lots of cackles had by all 🥳

TRICK OR TREAT

We have a fun filled Halloween party day this coming Friday packed with spooky opportunities, pumpkin carving, potions and sweet treats.......Why not book an extra session for your little witches, ghosts, vampires or pumpkins to come along and take part in the fun?!! Spaces are limited so get in quick. We look forward to seeing them all dressed up for the spooktacular day.

The preschoolers created shadows with coloured glass blocks, they worked as a team and built a house with trees and a car in the drive they also built a tower from a castle 🥰 they placed themselves in front of the patio doors (so the sun can shine through) how clever are they?? 😍 such a lovely afternoon listening to conservations about shape and colours!!

Half term is approaching fast!
We will be offering our first of many outdoor stay and play sessions.
These are sessions for you and your child to come along to and enjoy the outdoors, as well as exploring the world around us! 🌳🌱

Today our toddlers got messy with a sensory tuff tray of sea creatures. They explored the different textures used fine and gross motor skills making their marks in the oats and cereal they also used their little fingers to point out the creatures in the tray.

preschool have been exploring nature!! We have had lots of conversations about autumn and how its darker in the evenings, how the trees look different and about all the beautiful colours the children have seen. we have played with loose parts by grouping and categorising them, they have made some beautiful canvases using leaves and paint we have even made hedgehogs. the children developed their fine motor skills by wrapping elastic bands arounds huge pinecones too 🥰 What a busy time our preschoolers have had!!

Team LB would like to congratulate our Ellen on her one year work anniversary!! Thank you for everything you do day in and day out. We really do appreciate it 🥰

Halloween fun this half term with an outdoor stay and play session in Cranfield, this is for parent’s or grandparents to come along to with their child/grandchild. Link to follow soon to book online if you are interested!!

The babies have loved looking out of the window at the different autumnal weather we've had this week, the clear blue skies, sunshine and of course the heavy rain and wind was the best ever. We brought some of autumn into the room and tried conker rolling to get those fine and gross motor skills going and encourage our babies to use their senses, particularly sight and touch they noticed the colours and how the conkers moved and before long paint was all over tiny fingers and hands, spread all over the table and smeared on some cheeky little faces. We can't wait to see what happens with leaves sticks and acorns 🥰

So today our toddlers used their little hands to manipulate play dough, Ellie set up an opportunity that would help their fine and gross motor skills. By encouraging mark making in the playdough the children got to use all the muscles in their hands, fingers and arms by pointing, pressing and moulding the playdough into shapes. Ellie then got the dinosaurs out to see what the children would do. They began to press the dinosaurs feet into the playdough and began to giggle as they could see dinosaur foot prints in their playdough. 🥰

What a FANTASTIC Friday fun day we had!!! Our children got active outside in the garden with a fun obstacle course we then set up an inviting opportunity of Jack and the beanstalk where the children wowed us with their number recognition that were on the leaves by putting them in the correct order to get jack up that beanstalk. We then got crafty with nature and the children showed us some of their beautiful creations. We loved every minute of it and i'm sure they did to 🥰

We are looking forward to our Friday fun day tomorrow :) our children will be bopping, dancing, crafting, getting messy and active with lots of learning opportunities for babies, toddlers and preschoolers!!!.........Can not wait for you all to see their beautiful creations and messy clothes. Picnic update

we would like to thank all so much for the amazing turn out and generosity for our Cracker jacks charity event, we managed to raise a massive £185 which Ashbourne then matched for us giving us a massive total of £370!!!🥰🥳

We’d like to thank current parents that have recommended the nursery to friends and family, we’ve had a very successful open day. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces amongst new ones, we hope you’ve all had a lovely day and enjoy the rest of the weekend ☀️

This week in preschool we’ve been showing an interest in ladybirds and in numerals - we combined these two areas of interest and created a learning opportunity for children to explore.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and sometimes in the hustle and bustle of our morning routines we’re so focused on getting everyone else ready that we often forget to think about ourselves. We’ve left out some breakfast bars for the convenience of a grab and go breakfast for our parents that have simply forgotten to take care of themselves too.

National Family week is celebrated every year in Australia and is fast approaching (15th - 21st May). We would love to discuss and celebrate the diverse family structures we have within our nursery - each one individual and magnificent in their own way.

Would any of our families be kind enough to email a family photo to [email protected] so we can print these off to be able to discuss and celebrate the vital role families play and how each family is important, no matter the structure.

A reminder we are closed for the bank holiday weekend and will return to nursery on Tuesday 4th May 2021. We hope you have a lovely long weekend 🙂

⚠️ REMINDER ⚠️

Photo day at Leighton Buzzard is tomorrow morning! If your child attends the session they will have their photo taken, if not you would have been given a 5 minute slot - please arrive in the garden at your allocated time slot and wait to be called in one at a time by the photographer.

SAVE THE DATE

On Tuesday 27th April (am) we will be welcoming Carrie into the nursery to take photographs of your child. We are adhering to strict Covid guidelines and therefore will not be taking sibling or family shoots (unless both siblings already attend the setting).

Those that do not attend a Tuesday am session have been contacted for a 5 minute slot in which they will queue in the garden - standing 2 metres apart - and be called in one at a time to have their photograph taken.

Yesterday for Earth day the children chose colours they believed to represent the Earth to create rain pictures. We discussed how rain plays an important part of helping the Earth stay healthy. To extend this invitation to play we planted some cress seeds so we could monitor the daily growth and changes - this also gives the children independence and pride in having grown something themselves.
