Piano lessons offered in Leighton Buzzard to pupils of all ages and abilities - come and experience the incredible benefits of music making!

I am a piano teacher based in Leighton Buzzard and have spent the past 7 years teaching 1:1 lessons here to pupils of all ages and abilities, from 5 year olds through to adults, beginners through to grade 8 level. In September 2021 I took a few months of maternity leave to have my second baby, and during that time reflected a lot on the direction I wanted my business to take, which led to a very e

xciting change... Firstly, I will be focusing a lot more on teaching 1:1 lessons in schools (rather than privately) going forwards, so if you are a school teacher looking to add piano lessons to your extra-curricular offering, or a parent of a school pupil who would love to see piano lessons coming to your school, please do get in touch with me to see what we might be able to arrange! The second, huge and exciting change, is that during my maternity leave I have been training as a KeyNotes piano teacher, and I will be delivering KeyNotes lessons to groups of children in the Leighton Buzzard area from Feb 2022 onwards. KeyNotes is an innovative curriculum specifically tailored to teaching piano, and music in general, to groups of children, rather than individuals. The benefits of this approach are many and varied:

1) I am able to offer lessons at a significantly reduced cost
2) Younger children thrive in a group setting, when often 1:1 they struggle with concentration until they are quite a bit older
3) Group lessons are FUN! We use a more games-based approach to learn and develop our musicality.
4) The piano can often feel like quite a solitary instrument, but group lessons give children the opportunity to experience playing as an ensemble, and all of the life-skills which go hand in hand with that such as team work, collaboration, following instructions, and most importantly developing strong friendships and effective communication skills

One of the greatest gifts you can give your child is the opportunity to learn an instrument, and your dedication in supporting them to persevere with it over time (and I know I'm biased, but the piano will always be the winner for me, as it's the only instrument which allows you to play full melody and harmony simultaneously without needing any accompaniment). Playing the piano brings me such peace and such joy, and I didn't get there overnight - I've been playing for 30 years, and I had moments in my childhood where I wanted to quit or felt like I would never achieve what I wanted to, but I'm so grateful that my parents encouraged me to keep going. I meet so many adults who tell me they wish they'd continued learning when they were younger, and now as an adult, there's nothing which brings me more pleasure or makes me feel so calm as sitting down to play a beautiful piece of music like this. Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and thank you for encouraging your children this year to enjoy music making - I can promise you it is time well spent and I'm so proud of each and every one of them for working so hard ❤️🎹🎶

Wow, what an end to the year! You guys never fail to amaze me with your hard work, your talent, and your positivity and courage. We had an audience of around 90 people for our Summer concert today, and you were all so brave to get up and play with such confidence and flair! I am so proud of each and every one of you. Thank you to my fantastic team of Gommons - Bradley Gommon, Valerie Gommon and James Gommon - who helped so much to support me both with set up, serving teas and tidying away at the end. Also to all the wonderful volunteers who baked or brought cakes along for us all to enjoy. A big thank you to all of the parents for supporting your children to perform so wonderfully, and for being so generous with your time and money - I'm delighted to say that we raised a fantastic total of £325.61 for Save the Children through our efforts today! I hope you all have a wonderful Summer, and congratulations on another fantastic year of music making 🎶🎹❤️

Half term week was even crazier than normal here... we moved house! 😃🏠 I have to give the biggest shout out and thank you to Martin Porter and the team at Milton Keynes Pianos, who are truly incredible! I had a minor (well, major, to be honest!) panic for a few days when I saw the size of the corner which would have to be navigated to get the piano round the end of the hallway and safely into its new room - I couldn't imagine how it was ever going to be possible. We had various removal men and workmen in the house over the course of the first few days, all of whom looked at it and basically said "there's not a chance you're going to get a piano in there!" I have no idea how they did it, but Martin pulled some sort of piano moving wizardry skills out the bag right when I needed it, and somehow managed to get it into its new home just perfectly! Thank you so much Martin - you are my go-to guy for all my piano business needs, whether it be tuning, servicing or moving, I know I can count on you 🎹 My little pupil loved his first practice session in his new home! 😍

Demonstrating terrible piano posture here as the chair was waaaay to low (piano stool height/distance from the piano is key, guys!), BUT couldn't resist this festive photo opportunity when out with the kids today! We've been having lots of Festive fun this week in our last lessons before Christmas! As well as learning lots of Christmas Carols, we've been decorating our Christmas trees with our "rhythm baubles", as well as playing "Santa's presents", where the children have to take a selection of presents out of Santa's sack, each with different musical challenges written on the back, and see how many presents they can collect! That's been a really fun one for both groups and 1:1 pupils to enjoy. Looking forward to my last day tomorrow and lots more Christmas music to enjoy! 🎹🎶🎁🎄
