The children had a fantastic visit to Rushmere Country Park last week! They explored trees, listened to 'Little Red Riding Hood' in the story hut and went on a woodland walk. They also matched nature's colours with colour cards and wrapped up with 'The Three Little Pigs'. 🌳📚

Our first Colour Run, organized by DAPA, was a success despite weather challenges. Children declared it their best day ever at Dovery. Thanks to DAPA, 'Happy Helpers', staff, and all who helped clean up in the rain, especially the children who assisted—they were amazing!

The Yoto Carnegies 05/07/2024

Congratulations to the Reading Gladiators in Year 3 and 4 for all the work they have put into being Shadowers for The Yoto Carnegies Children's Book Awards. This is the first year we have done this and the children have read all the books on the shortlist, adding reviews to the Shadowers Platform and sharing their views with other children around the UK.

Today we watched the Award Ceremony https://yotocarnegies.co.uk/take-part/stream/
and discovered that Aaron Becker won the Medal for Illustration with his book 'The Tree and the River', a beautiful wordless books about civilisation and changes over history. All the shortlisted books, including this one, will be in our library for everyone to enjoy from September.

The Yoto Carnegies To the Other SideI like this book because some people are at war .I think the pictures really tell the story.I like that this story had a happy ending because some wars don’t have a happy ending and some one has to lose .

This half-term pre-school have been looking at Heroes and Adventurers – a lot of this has involved space! Their craft activities have centred around – making rockets and fantastic aliens from junk modelling!

🌟 In recognition of all their hard work on getting 100% on the phonics screening check, Year 1 enjoyed a teddy bear's picnic on Friday. Everyone shared their ideas of how we could make this the best celebration ever. Well done Year 1, you are stars! 🌟

28/06/2024

Dovery Academy are so proud to share the outcomes of our Year 1 children's phonic screening check this year!

In 2023 the pass rate nationally was 79% pass rate and we were really pleased to have exceed this with 83%, but this year... 100% pass!

We are so proud of the children who were super keen to show their skills and told us 'it's just sounding and blending' ! It was a joy to watch them putting into practice their learning from the year. Essential Letters and Sounds, our phonic programme, prepares the children so well and they can apply their learning efficiently and read with confidence, clearly very proud of their achievements.

Year 1 had a wonderful trip to Rushmere County Park where they learnt about trees and plants and when they came back they were so excited to share their knowledge. They can now identify lots of different trees just by looking at their leaves!

Our wonderful musicians entertained many of our families with such confidence and joy! Everyone sang with energy and the songs were lots of fun, with some of the audience taking part too! A big thank you to Miss Pughe and Mrs Blessing for putting the concert together!
