Madinah Private Day Nursery Madinah Day Nursery is a privately run nursery supervised by qualified staff . We are situated withi We have 4 large play rooms, a light room, and large garden.

Madinah is a family run private day nursery, providing good quality day care for children from 0-5 years, and holiday care for children from 5-11 years. We are situated in a large converted Methodist church, just under 2 miles away from Leigh town centre. We also have a large car park. The nursery owners, husband and wife team Brenda and Jafar, have owned the nursery since summer 1999. We have alw

ays had a close staff team, with a low turnaround of staff. This provides consistency in the care we give your children. Our staff team are qualified from a minimum of Level 3, up to degree level. As well as qualifications on paper, our staff have plenty of experience of working with young children, whether it be working in childcare settings, or having their own children, which we feel is important. We value outdoor play very highly, and spend a
lot of time in our natural garden, experiencing all weathers, with the children able to access a wide range of open-ended resources to develop their physical, imaginative and social skills. We are a very positive setting, and have strong thoughts about the importance of a positive environment. In our nursery, children's thoughts are listened to, respected and valued as much as the grown-ups...we are all a team, working together to make our days fun and educational. The children in nursery are always responded to in a positive, supportive and encouraging way, even if unwanted behaviour is being displayed. We do not do 'time out', the children are not 'told off', and we flip all our interactions with the children to a positive, rather than a negative...for example, instead of saying "don't run" we'd say "please walk". Our positive environment crashes a positive mindset, for both the staff and children. The children choose their own activities throughout the day... young children learn better if they are interested in what they are doing. The staff know when to step back and let the children develop their own ideas, and when to step in and enhance their play. Staff enhance children's play through good quality interactions... lots of open-ended questions to encourage the children's thinking skills, modelling ideas, and narrating their play, all to develop children's skills. Staff spend lots of time with their key children, and so know exactly which areas of learning the children will benefit from developing. Hi everyone, it's Lorraine.
As the nursery shuts it's doors for the very last time today after nearly 24 years, as Brenda's longest-standing staff member of 23 years (yes, I know I don't work there any more, but I've still been going in and it still feels like my nursery! ๐Ÿ˜) I can't let the moment pass without paying tribute to Brenda.
As a childcare provider, Brenda fostered a positive, homely, welcoming environment for children and their families. Many, many parents have stayed for chats and drinks in a morning, before leaving their children and going to work. Madinah has always been flexible, and worked around parents/families. She has gone above and beyond for families on so many occasions, and continued to offer support, advice and guidance even when they have left nursery. She has actively encouraged children with additional needs, and has been a strong advocate for these children, especially when other settings have made their child feel unhappy, unwelcome and/or unwanted. Every child has been treated as an individual, and have thrived in Madinah's care.
As an employer, Brenda made a happy workplace. She was always happy and excited whenever OFSTED turned up, because she knew her nursery was good, and was proud to show it off. The nursery has always been a fun, positive place to work, and many life-long friendships have been formed here. She has been fair with staff, with in turn led to staff working hard.
As a friend, Brenda is very important to me. Over the years she has put up with my rubbish time keeping, my belongings all over nursery. .. I could go on with all the little things I did that used to make her shake her head at me! She has also been somebody who has listened to me, supported me, made me laugh and given me advice. She has always been very flexible when I've needed times off for family reasons, and has just always been there for me.
Brenda has been supported in nursery by her husband Jafar, and her children, who have all worked here at some point over the years. Brenda bought the nursery when her youngest daughter was 4 years old. She wasn't happy with the childcare that was available for her, so she bought her own nursery. Her children have all grown up now, and are all married with their own children. It's now the right time for Brenda to relax and enjoy quality time with her family, and her 11 grandchildren.
So, I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing Brenda a very happy and healthy retirement.

It is with great sadness that Madinah will be closing it's doors forever very soon, Brenda has taken the decision to retire. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ๐ŸŽ‰

We would like to thank all our families & staff, past and present for some wonderful memories.
It has been a pleasure to look after so many little ones, too many to count. We have loved every minute helping them to grow & learn and watching them become who they are.

We would like to wish everyone good health and happiness. ๐Ÿ€

Hi Madinahโ€™s friends and community families. This week has been a very emotional one. I am so sad to say that after 23 years Lorraine Spreag is leaving us this week for pastures new. We have worked to build madinah together into the wonderful nursery that it is today. All our community, the children and their families are going to miss Lorraine very much. As for myself, Lorraine is my โ€œadopted โ€œ daughter. We have shared many happy events and several sad personal ones. She has supported me and worked so hard for madinah and myself. Lorraine gives 100% of herself and because of this we forgive her odd time keeping, her multiple footwear left at nursery, her millions of cardigans in the office, her thirst for another cup of tea, as well as bicycles left in the passage. We are going to miss her so much. Please join me and wish her luck in her new job. The door is definitely open should she want to return. Good luck my friend and โ€œdaughter โ€œ I miss you already.๐Ÿฅฐ

We intend for children to be treated with respect, their opinions listened to & valued, and their individuality embraced, encouraged & supported.

We do this by following the childs lead in their play, respecting their ideas and opinions, enabling their imagination, sharing ideas & stories, listening to what they have to say and praising & encouraging them all the time.

The children in turn, grow into confident, happy, independent and respectful people. Knowing they are valued, their voices heard and do matter. They will have respect for themselfs and treat others with respect. ๐Ÿ˜

Even though we haven't posted anything on here for a while, that doesn't mean we haven't been busy bees!๐Ÿ

The children's main interests these past few weeks have mainly been spiders/insects ๐Ÿœand fire engines/firemen. ๐Ÿš’They have also been exploring things that roll โšฝ๐Ÿ‰โšพand making courses to balance, climb and jump from.
The staff have been supporting the children's play, whilst providing lots of learning opportunities at the same time, to help develop the children's next steps.๐Ÿ˜Š

We continue to spend lots of time in our garden, as it has endless learning opportunities. ๐ŸŒณ

The official government e-petition against plans to relax early years ratios in England has reached 100,000. The milestone means that the petition must now be considered for a debate in Parliament.

The petition was started by Zoe and Lewis Steeper, whose son Oliver tragically died after an incident at a nursery a year ago today.

Commenting, Neil Leitch, CEO of the Early Years Alliance, said:

โ€œThe fact that this petition has now reached 100,000 signatures clearly shows how worried both providers and parents are about the likely impact of proposed ratios changes on the early years sector in England.

โ€œLet's be clear: changing ratios is a mindless policy that will do more harm than good to a sector already on its knees. These changes have been falsely sold as a cost-saving measure when, as our own research shows, it will do little โ€“ if anything โ€“ to deliver savings to parents. Instead, all these proposals will do is put the quality of care and early education children receive at risk, and place even more pressure on an already-overburdened workforce in the middle of a staffing crisis.

โ€œGiven the complete lack of appetite for any changes demonstrated by the success of this petition, itโ€™s clear that this issue must be now debated in Parliament as a matter of urgency.

โ€œWe would like to thank Zoe and Lewis Steeper who, during a time of unimaginable personal tragedy, have campaigned tirelessly and selflessly to highlight this issue. We are very proud to join them in calling for the government to scrap this ridiculous policy before it has a disastrous and irreversible impact on our vital sector.โ€
