Autism Mummy Early Interventions. Consultation with families to improve communciation, play and reduce some inappropriate behaviours i

I have qualifications in early years education and have a degree in Psychology, and many years of teaching young children with a diagnosis of Autism. I have a son with classic autism who was educated using proven approaches addressing his delays in speech, play and self help skills. I have since worked for the last 7 years with many different children under 5 on the autistic spectrum as a private

tutor and as a one to one support in pre-school settings. The approach I use is based on proven methods known as Applied Behavioural Analysis and Verbal Behaviour. This is a fun approach which teaches young children to learn using proven scientific techniques which have been used in education for the last 60 years or more. The difference between my approach and that which the NHS and Local Authority uses is the intensity, consistency and methodology. This approach teaches the child's family to teach along with others with far better results than the traditional TEACCH approach which is used in early years settings and schools. This approach is delivered also by highly qualified Board Certified Behaviour Analysts, but at a very high financial costs, my rates are considerably lower as I am a parent who realises that not everyone can afford £100p/h consultation fees ! I have many years of experience of working along side Speech and Language therapists, Occupational therapists, educational psychologists, SENCO's, teachers and paediatricians. This team approach to supporting a child's development is I believe integral to a child's development and inclusion within the pre-school, nursery or school which the parents choose for their child.

I base my interventions on the model of Vebral Behaviour and Applied Behavioural analysis. A child with autism is able to learn language and socially appropriate behaviours, it just takes them a little longer and in many instances the children need an alternative approach to learn.
All my approaches are based on play and the relationship built up between child and tutor. This play is in their natural environment so at home, the outside world ...park, woods, trampoline anywhere the child enjoys going to... it is their childhood and as tutors we are there to help them learn from their world around them. Families are encouraged to become the childs tutors, as parents are always the childs best teacher ... all I do is give you the skills and knowldedge to teach your child with autism so that they can progress.

A new study reveals that autism may begin during pregnancy. Scientists analyzed postmortem tissue samples from children with autism as well as typically developed children. What they discovered is that, as far back as the second trimester, certain cells are not where they are supposed to be in the b…

Hi all,
Today I visited a mainstream school , which was very interesting. While the staff and teaching assistant's are very caring, they are it seems desperate for more training in how to manage behaviours and motivate the children in their care to learn rather than engage in self stimulating behaviours.
Question :- how many have had training in autism and how many are there because they themselves have an autistic child? It would seem that those I spoke to have an autistic child, so they have some understanding, BUT all children are different and unique! the difficulties our children can experience are also different and unique, what would work for their child does not necessarily work for someone else's. My ambition is to see those children be supported in differentiating their learning so they can reach their potential.
My view is that through the parents this can be achieved when the parents themselves are empowered with evidence based practise in teaching their children at home as well as in school.
My services are aimed at achieving just that, what's everyone's view ?
