I have qualifications in early years education and have a degree in Psychology, and many years of teaching young children with a diagnosis of Autism. I have a son with classic autism who was educated using proven approaches addressing his delays in speech, play and self help skills. I have since worked for the last 7 years with many different children under 5 on the autistic spectrum as a private
tutor and as a one to one support in pre-school settings. The approach I use is based on proven methods known as Applied Behavioural Analysis and Verbal Behaviour. This is a fun approach which teaches young children to learn using proven scientific techniques which have been used in education for the last 60 years or more. The difference between my approach and that which the NHS and Local Authority uses is the intensity, consistency and methodology. This approach teaches the child's family to teach along with others with far better results than the traditional TEACCH approach which is used in early years settings and schools. This approach is delivered also by highly qualified Board Certified Behaviour Analysts, but at a very high financial costs, my rates are considerably lower as I am a parent who realises that not everyone can afford £100p/h consultation fees ! I have many years of experience of working along side Speech and Language therapists, Occupational therapists, educational psychologists, SENCO's, teachers and paediatricians. This team approach to supporting a child's development is I believe integral to a child's development and inclusion within the pre-school, nursery or school which the parents choose for their child.
