We have remained a top prep school in The Sunday Times Independent Prep School rankings for many years, have Google Reference School status for our excellent use of technology throughout the School and were shortlisted for two awards from the Independent School Review. Michael’s each child is encouraged and challenged to achieve personal success whilst providing a thorough preparation for the next phase of their education. However, that success is not just about academic achievement. We aim for each child to develop as a unique and well-rounded individual with the ability to engage and achieve in all aspects of the school's curriculum and to grow in confidence, independence and respect for others. All children are encouraged to make the most of the many opportunities available to them and to play an active part in our school community. Choosing the right school for your child is one of the biggest decisions that any parent has to make. Please contact Mrs Pearce, Head of Admissions, tel: 01702 416310 / e-mail: [email protected] to arrange a visit and see all that the St Michael's has to offer.

Year 3 pupils had an unforgettable day stepping back in time at Colchester Castle this week! 🏰✨

Our young historians dived deep into 2,500 years of incredible history, exploring an amazing collection of Roman artifacts and archaeological treasures. 🛡️🏺

What did our Year 3 experts learn?

- They discovered how the Norman Castle was built in 1076 by order of William the Conqueror, but was constructed directly on top of the ancient Roman Temple of Claudius (built all the way back in AD 54!). 🤯

- The children got to see firsthand how the clever Normans recycled Roman bricks and tiles to build Europe's largest Norman keep. 🧱

_ By interacting with real artefacts, they brought their classroom learning about Roman Britain to life, understanding what daily life looked like thousands of years ago.

A huge well done to Year 3 for asking such brilliant questions and representing our school so well! 🙌🔴

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

🎵 What a beautiful celebration of music! 🎵

Our End of Year Music Showcase was the perfect culmination of how deeply music and song are embedded into the very ethos of St Michael's. From our Junior and Senior Choirs and Orchestras to various strings and wind ensembles, the talent on display was incredible! 🎻🎷

This wonderful event is a testament to Miss Tucker, who, in her 29th year of teaching music, remains fiercely passionate about helping children discover the joy of playing an instrument and singing. Her ultimate hope is to instill a lifelong love for music that our pupils will carry well into adulthood. ✨

A huge well done to every single performer who took part, and thank you to all the parents who attended. It is always such a heartwarming occasion!

Paws & Applause for the St Michael’s Dog Show! 🐾

On Tuesday evening, pupils Francesca and Arya took the lead to organise and host the official St Michael's Dog Show! From start to finish, this event was entirely child-led, demonstrating amazing dedication and organisational skills.

Our star competitors were Reggie, Drago, Pillow, Pudding, Dennis, Freddie, and Percy! Guided by their owners, they all completed the two challenges in front of a supportive crowd.

Our judges Francesca, Arya, and Mrs Thomas had some tough decisions to make, but the official results are in:

✨ Best Presented: Pillow
✨ Most Agile: Freddie
✨ Most Obedient: Dennis

A huge thank you to everyone who took part. Well done to Francesca and Arya for bringing this event to life so smoothly!

💛 All proceeds raised from the event are being donated to the Dogs Trust.
