With Welcome Week just around the corner, we asked you to share your best tips and advice on how to make the most of it, from settling in to finding your way around and everything in between.

With 100+ societies and 30 sport clubs, there’s something for everyone. From roller skating and law to lacrosse and netball, there’s plenty to get involved in.

The right people will appreciate you for who you are, so don’t put pressure on yourself to fit in.

Chances are, lots of people around you are hoping to make new friends too, so don’t be afraid to start a conversation.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to make all your friends in your first week. There’s plenty of time and opportunities to meet people, whether it’s through your flatmates, coursemates, part-time jobs, Varsity, volunteering or our regular Community Weeks.

You could also put a sticky note on your door with your social handle if you’re happy for people to connect with you.

On-campus healthcare, where you can collect prescriptions, book appointments, or check your symptoms. Register as soon as you can.

You don’t have to figure everything out on your own. There’s always someone who can point you in the right direction, whether that’s a member of staff or our website, which has plenty of helpful resources.

Meet your new favourite spot on campus. Say hello to Monty’s!
 
Right at the heart of campus, it is the perfect place to grab food, catch up, and study. The space features a permanent Saints of Mokha coffee shop for your daily caffeine fix alongside a rotating lineup of food trucks. With plenty of seating and power outlets, it is ideal for chilling or meeting up between lectures.
 
We loved building this together - one of our BA Graphic Design+Illustration students, ismail even helped create the visual identity of the space. Plus, Saints of Mokha’s co-founder is a proud DMU grad!

A special shoutout to all the graduates' supporters who stood beside them through every high, low, challenge, and celebration ✨

Bessie's sister had the opportunity to witness our graduate reach this incredible milestone, while also seeing the journey, sacrifices, perseverance, and determination it took to get there.

This achievement is a reflection of the graduate's hard work, but also of the love, encouragement, and support that carried them every step of the way.
