Almae. Of Latin origin, this word means nourishing; kind.

It’s also both a feminine and a plural adjective. Feminine energy is the epitome of soft power, resilience, growth and healing. Plural because none of these things are easy (or even possible) in solitude. We need community. “Self Care” has become a capitalist endeavour; co-opted by companies who want to sell you something. We need community care more than ever. It’s why my preference is always to gather in person.

Under Almae Wellness I offer Yoga, Mindfulness and Massage.

✨ Swedish Massage
✨ Holistic Massage
✨ Compassionate Mindful Resilience (4 week course)
✨ Yoga for Stress & Burnout (6 week course)
✨ Restorative Yoga
✨ Rest Sessions (yoga, meditation & pranayama)

I’m open to skill swaps, and always try to offer partially and/or fully funded places on everything that I share. It’s not a job to me. It’s a sharing of wisdom that I try my best not to gate-keep behind high paywalls. I charge what I think is fair for my time, covers costs, is appropriate for my community AND also respects my decade-long commitment to learning and study in these fields.

I’d love to see you in person sometime 🥰

Yoga for Stress & Burnout - starts 11th May 2025

Over six weeks expect to build up a collection of techniques that can be layered together to increase resiliency and combat the effects of stress and burnout. These are quiet practices that help to help nourish and reset your nervous system, facilitate relaxation in the body and stillness in the mind.

👉👉👉 Swipe to read lovely words from previous students who have attended this course

Lovely beings who have joined me on this course before include teachers, doctors, parents of children with additional needs, those signed off from work with stress and/or mental health-related issues, students, people recovering from traumatic experiences, and those undergoing cancer treatment. And it has been the absolute privilege of my life to be able to hold space for these people.

This course is a container of rest, and is for everyone. I will respect where you’re at in your individual journey and adapt my offerings accordingly; it’s kinda my thing

💬💭🤍 “The great thing about this course is that there is no pressure and everyone is treated as an individual, with differing needs, in a completely safe environment. Emma is perceptive of your body positioning on the mat (even when you have a blanket over you!) allowing adjustments to be made for your ultimate comfort and relaxation. Emma is also extremely knowledgeable and imparted this in a compassionate way, placing emphasis on bringing elements of the practice into every day life.” - Bally. Jan 2025 cohort

It’s a joy to receive positive feedback 🥰💕 Ensuring everyone gets what they need from the sessions is my main aim 🫶

We start again at on Sunday 9th March… see you there?

More info & booking via the link in my bio ☺️

📸 Please note - This photo is from a session orchestrated specifically for me to be able to take photos. I NEVER take photos of my students during practice 🙌 Also, everyone gets at least one blanket 😉

We wrapped up the January cohort of Yoga for Stress & Burnout today with a rounded-out practice encompassing aspects of everything we covered in the last five weeks.

The last session is always bittersweet for me; getting to know a group of people over several months and then saying goodbye (until next time!), and also seeing the knowledge land with them as we wrap it all together. Getting to see how much the practices have helped them and hearing their feedback is always heartwarming and the main driver of why I continue to offer the course.

Today we each had
💝 Double Mats
💝 Three Blankets
💝 Three Bolsters
💝 Two Yoga Bricks
💝 Two Yoga Blocks
💝 An Eye Pillow
💝 A Sandbag

Acts of service are my love language 🙏 Maybe see you on the March cohort? 😘

💬💭🤍 “I feel kind of vulnerable… I know that sounds stupid!” - A friend during a small group session.

He said this as we were setting up in this posture after I invited him to move his hands away from the edges of his body (to give his shoulders a chance to relax).

It’s not stupid at all. In fact it’s the opposite of stupid.

👉 Noticing your discomfort, acknowledging the emotion, recognising the root cause, AND being able to express the issues are, in fact, important life skills and something we don’t often find time for or have the opportunity to do.

👉 Lying on your back with your eyes closed and all of your vital organs exposed IS a vulnerable place to be!

👉 Your body won’t relax if you don’t feel safe. It’s evolutionary. We wouldn’t have lasted very long as homo sapiens if we could.

👉 Your body communicates directly with your brain, and if it communicates (neurocepts) discomfort or feelings of being unsafe, it will also be impossible to relax your brain.

So how did we help him feel less vulnerable? We weighted the front of his body with a bolster (and then OF COURSE we covered him with a blanket and tucked him up like a burrito!). We made him feel as safe and supported as possible and then we occupied his brain with a gentle pranayama.

This is 💯 the sort of thing we explore in Yoga for Stress & Burnout. Honing our awareness, giving ourselves TIME and SPACE to explore how we feel, and - most importantly - we explore options and variations of support that work FOR YOU.

Next cohort is starting on Sunday 9th March. Link in bio to book, or DM me with any questions 🫶

📸 Please note - The purpose of this session was specifically for me to be able to take photos. I NEVER take photos of my students during practice.

💬💭🤍 “My blood pressure was reading at 134/102 and I was feeling immense bodily anxiety whilst taking the reading. So I decided to practice the grounding exercises; my blood pressure dropped to 116/90.” - Someone on my current Yoga for Stress & Burnout cohort

🫀 This person is monitoring their blood pressure at the request of their doctor and gave me this amazing feedback after JUST ONE SESSION of the six week course.

After each class I send a summary and some recorded resources to the group. The practice I sent after the first session was a simple 7min Mindfulness exercise.

🫀 From hypertension to normal range in 7mins 💥 Honestly, these practices work!

The next cohort is open for booking; starting on Sunday 9th March.

Would love to see you there,

💬💭🤍 “It’s not like normal yoga, more lying down wrapped up like a burrito” - Someone on my current Yoga for Stress & Burnout cohort.

I mean, she’s not wrong 🤣

We lay on the floor, like, a lot.

Restorative Yoga is the practice of asanas, each held for longer than in conventional yoga - with the support of props - to relax the body and reduce stress. In fact muscle activation is strongly discouraged, so yeah, it’s pretty different!

Restorative yoga is a balm for a frazzled nervous system, the antithesis of modern-day living in a post-capitalist hellscape 😅

It’s why when I market my course, I confidently say it’s for anyone with any level of experience. Because flexibility DOESN’T MATTER, strength DOESN’T MATTER, the ability to sit in Lotus posture like a pretzel DOESN’T MATTER! As long as you can get on the floor and back up again (even at the slowest speed), these practices are available to you!

Join me in March and I’ll show you the burrito wrap; it’s my favourite 🤩 🥰

In full prep mode for the commencement of the first of my “Yoga for Stress & Burnout” courses to be held here in Leicester!

Full of excitement and gratitude to facilitate this course in my new home city with 💕💖💕 and I’m delighted that not only is it sold out; but I’ve been able to offer a number of partial/fully funded places. I’ve experienced yoga as a healing modailty during some of the toughest times of my life, and I am not about to (and have never wanted to) gatekeep these practices on the basis of economic background. I’m honestly thrilled that people have reached out about these places and that they’ve gone to those who need them 🙏🫶🙏🫶

These are some of my favourite ever books on the subjects of rest, yoga, pranayama and mindfulness… Those I specifically come back to again and again are:

📚 Relax & Renew by
📚 Buddha’s Brain by
📚 Yoga for Emotional Balance by

(💝 Also a sneaky Dressed As Love by in the corner of the frame 😂 GREAT poetry book 💝)

Who is Yoga for Stress & Burnout for? Swipe >>>

Doctors. Students. Teachers. Parents. Parents of kids with additional needs. Cancer patients. People signed off work with stress-related symptoms. Trauma survivors. Executives. Designers. People with anxiety. People with depression. People with both. People with high blood pressure. People trying to get pregnant. People with chronic health concerns... Did I mention “Parents” again??!

These are all real people who have attended Yoga for Stress & Burnout in the past. Real people, with real stresses, and real complex lives.

You don’t need any experience. You don’t need to be “good” at yoga, meditation etc. You don’t need to be flexible. Ideally to get the most out of it you should be able to sit and/or lie on the floor and be able to get back up with relative ease; but even that can probably be worked around. These teachings are for everyone.
