DMU Racing

This is probably a little late - better late than never.
This year was a good one. Sixth place in FSUK for our IC car for the FS Class and 25th place for our electric concept class race car.

We would like to thank all of our technicians, faculty staff and sponsors once again as we wouldn’t have gotten this place without you.

I would also like to mention a few people on our team who deserve an extra thank you.

- Adam Spiby, who was the key player who pushed until 2am in the morning to get the BSPD to work (A Mechatronic braking PCB).

- Jayan Mistry, our chief engineer. Designing and manufacturing functional, light weight parts as well as advising the whole team on different engineering aspects across the whole project.

jeffery27 our chief mechanic, the guy who we go to for his extensive knowledge of mechanical systems in a car, his knowledge of suspension systems and the guy who can change anything on the car under pressure in a matter of minutes (minus the engine).

- and .husson.33 Ownership is a word that we can describe this two in. When they were the only two available to join finish developing the electrical car, they took full ownership of it.

- We would also like to thank for leading the team as the project manager while also developing large aspects of the car including but not limited to our first impact attenuator, modifying the exhaust, some electrics on the car and teaching all the team members to become better engineers.

We thought we'd dedicate this post to one of our main, long term sponsors, a massive amount of appreciation and huge thanks goes out to Northampton Motorsport.

With this year presenting a different set of challenges, their support and technical advice has been more helpful than ever before. Over the past 5 years, their guidance and expertise has been priceless and has provided our current student team members and graduates with experience with engine calibration, suspension setup, vehicle dynamics, wiring looms, vehicle diagnostics and much more to which they've been able to carry aspects forward into their degrees and respective engineering fields.

A former DMU Racing team member, Alex, now a Calibration Engineer at NMS along with the NMS team supported us in reaching the next level with our latest IC car, now with by drive by wire, paddle shift, launch control and traction control. The latest test day along with their trackside support showed huge performance improvements to which we hope to convert into a high scoring event this year at FSUK 2021.

What an event!
This year DMU Racing placed 22nd Overall and improved in every category other than Endurance in which due to an unfortunate mechanical fault we were unable to finish. That being said while the car was out we saw some incredible lap times from our chassis lead and driver, Jayan.

I'd personally like to thank every single team member from Foundation to Fourth Year, Graduate, Sponsor, Technician and Faculty Advisors for all the work, dedication and support. Together we've built the best car in DMU Racing history.
