Henry completed his first solo!

A few weeks ago Henry took on his initial solo. Completing the circuit, take off and landing by himself for the first time.

Henry has almost completed all of his theory exams so this is great progress, as he builds his way towards his PPL(H).

Not long to go until our final 2026 Integrated class begins!

We have availability for either Modular Residential students and students with no experience, who want to go all the way to being a Commercial Helicopter Pilot within 12-15 months.

You'll complete full time, classroom based training for the initial months. After Module one, your schedule will interchange with flying days!

Congratulations to Tom on successfully passing his PPL(H) Skill Test!

This marks an important step in Tom’s journey towards becoming a Commercial Helicopter Pilot, and we’re delighted to see all his hard work rewarded with a successful result.

Reflecting on the test, Tom said:
"The test went smoothly and I couldn't be happier with how it went, it's a big relief."

This achievement is also a significant milestone for Helicentre Aviation, as Tom’s test was the first to be conducted at our London Oxford Base. We’re incredibly pleased to mark the occasion with a successful first test.

Tom will now continue building his experience and working towards his next steps, including applying for the CPL(H) Scholarship. We look forward to following his progress and, hopefully, welcoming him back as an instructor in the future.

We asked Colin what his favourite flight from his PPL(H) training was.

"My favourite was my Solo QCC, it's the last solo NAV before the test so it feels like you're almost done and ready for test. I went to Cranfield as part of it and it was great going to such a busy place, it felt like flying into a major airport."

Colin recently passed his PPL(H) and has started hour building to continue training towards his CPL(H)!

What does the collective in a helicopter do?

As the collective is raised and lowered, the angle of the blade changes. This changes the pitch of all main rotor blades collectively during flight which changes the lift.

Working together with the cyclic and pedals, this helps manouver the helicopter in all directions.

A big congratulations to Alex on passing his CPL(H) Skill Test! 🚁

We're really proud to see him achieve his commercial licence. He'll now start hour building towards his next steps!

"I'm really pleased to have passed and for Tamzin to say it was a strong test pass!"

We're looking forward to seeing where Alex's career as a pilot takes him, we'll hopefully see him instructing some time soon!

Today is Emergency Services Day! We’re thankful to everyone who works within our emergency services and the work they do every day.

We'd especially like to highlight the helicopter Pilots who
assist in these emergencies. From responding to incidents and transporting medical professionals, to completing time concious medical deliveries, their work makes a big difference when every second counts.

Toby, in the photos, trained at Helicentre Aviation and is now working with Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance.
It's always great to see what our former students go on to achieve and it's incredibly rewarding to see them build careers in these industries!
