🚽 Potty Training: Top Tips for a Smooth Transition! 🚽
Starting potty training is a huge milestone! It can feel a bit daunting, but teamwork makes the dream work. Since your little one spends so much time with us at nursery, we want to partner with you for a stress-free transition.
Here is our quick guide to potty success:
✨ 1. Are They Ready?
Look for signs like dry nappies for 2 hours, hiding when they go, and can pull trousers their up and down.
👖 2. Keep Clothes Simple
When toddlers need to go, they need to go NOW!
✅Yes: Elasticated joggers, leggings, and skirts.
❎No: Dungarees, belts, skinny jeans, or stiff buttons.
🗣️ 3. Teamwork is Key
Before you start, chat with your child's key worker and any relatives who would also look after your child so they can match your:
💬Words: (e.g., wee, poo, potty)
🕒Routine: (e.g., sitting every 45 minutes)
🏆Rewards: (e.g., sticker charts)
🎒 4. Pack the Extras!
Accidents are totally normal. Please pack a nursery bag with:
🩲3–4 changes of clothes (pants, trousers, socks)
👟An extra pair of shoes (accidents pool downward!)
💦Plastic bags for wet clothes
🤝 Let's Do This Together!
Ready to start? Speak to your key worker today.

The children have had an exciting week in the foundation unit for healthy eating week! 🍎🍐🍊🍋🍌🍓🍍🥝🥑🥕🌽🫛
The children have done amazing at their ‘healthy eating plate’ 🍽️
Their knowledge is amazing and so are their drawings!
Definitely made us hungry looking at them.. 👀🫢
The children have also participated in a fun blind taste test. They began by chopping a selection of healthy fruits and vegetables, which really helped improve their fine motor skills. After that, they wore blindfolds and tasted small pieces of the fruits and veggies. They used different vocabulary to share their thoughts on the different textures and whether they enjoyed the flavours. We were so proud of them for being adventurous and trying new things outside their comfort zone. Well done to all the children for their fantastic effort!
The children have also discovered that some fruits were easier to cut than others, which sparked a lot of engagement. The smoothie making activity also provided a perfect chance for them to share their favourite fruits with one another. It was lovely to hear their confidence as they named different fruits, shared if they had tried them before, and expressed whether they liked them! After chopping, the children carefully placed the fruit pieces into the correct bowls, and then we blended them into delicious smoothies. They showed great patience during circle time, eagerly waiting to taste their creations afterwards, which was a delightful end to the activity! They went down a treat 🥰🥰

There’s something special about learning outdoors. Fresh air, space to move, and endless opportunities to explore all help children feel confident, curious, and connected to the world around them. 🌳
Our outdoor area gives children the freedom to run, climb, discover, and test out their ideas in a safe and supportive environment. Every visit outside brings new experiences and little moments of learning they can truly enjoy.

This week, our little explorers have been diving into the exciting world of baking! With baking day coming up, we used pasta play to spark their imaginations and boost social skills whilst the work together. They also practised using spoons to scoop and pour, which is great for developing their fine motor skills!
