As comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you to all of our group’s volunteers 🦇

They spend hours caring for bats, attending events, leading walks, checking boxes, doing surveys and much more.

We thank you volunteers!

Remember the two pipistrelles that were taken to Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital after being found inside a bucket of water?

Well they are both doing well and had a go in our new flight cage to build up strength ready for release ❤️

Super cute picture in the comments!

We are exciting to share with you our new flight cage 🦇

This is being used by bat carers to exercise the bats prior to release to make sure that they are flight ready. As you can see, the bats now have a large secure space to fly in.

A big thank you to our members for your continued support, to our volunteers who worked hard building this and to Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust for providing us with the room and support to build.

These two pipistrelles arrived into our care after they were found inside a bucket of water!

Barely clinging to life on arrival, our team slowly warmed and rehydrated the 2 of them and thankfully they showed fantastic signs of improvement!

Once stable, they were then transferred into the capable hands of the Leicestershire & Rutland Bat Group where they will spend some time with a specialist bat carer before being released back into the wild at the location originally found.

Being a bat carer can be busy at times, but it’s all worth it when the bat you’ve been caring for is healthy enough to be released, like this little pipistrelle 🦇

If you find an injured or grounded bat head to our website for guidance - https://lrbatgroup.wordpress.com/ive-found-a-bat-help/

Busy making badges, mirrors and fridge magnets to take to our events this summer. All funds raised help towards our bat care (vet bills, antibiotics, mealworms and puppy milk) for the grounded bats we get from now until they hibernate.
