It is European Day of Languages tomorrow! We have had a week of celebration all around the theme of ‘languages unite’ culminating this morning with a French breakfast for Year 7 alongside a quiz. Winners will be announced next week. There’s a question in the photos- can you answer it?

Our Year 7 students have been making the most of our fantastic school grounds during their Art & Design lessons. We are very lucky to have such extensive playing fields and outdoor spaces, which provided the perfect setting for students to explore perspective, horizon lines and landscape depth. Students photographed the school grounds and then experimented with manipulating their photographs to create different perspectives and effects. A great opportunity to combine creativity with the environment around them!

Year 10 Art & Design students enjoyed a visit to a local dairy farm as part of their Natural Forms project. They took photographs and produced outdoor observational sketches of the animals and surrounding environment, gathering valuable primary research to develop their GCSE artwork.

We look forward to seeing prospective parents and students at our Open Evening next Thursday 24 September. Headteacher talks are at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm with school tours in between these times. The evening is proving to be very popular. If you find the bookings are sold out online- don’t worry, you can still attend. We won’t turn any away- all are more than welcome to come and explore our school.

Great to have Year 10 working with WizeUp today. This is the first of several sessions that will raise awareness about financial literacy. It was really interactive and students learned a lot about the history of money.

Congratulations to our Year 8s who were judged to have written the best letters to our new Year 7 students. Book tokens were presented to them this morning! 👏👏👏 Well done to all involved.

We’ve ‘crunched the numbers’ today and can confirm our students have achieved some excellent results in comparison to early indicators of national averages.
Their attainment 8 score currently stands at 61 which means their average grade across subjects is a Grade 6. (National Average- 47)
In addition 79% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in English and Maths- a strong pass (National Average- 48%).
Well done to our Year 11 students, once again you rose to the challenge and have truly excelled.

Quick reminder- Year 11 students can collect GCSE results from school tomorrow between 9am and 10am. Please come to the Humanities canopy to collect them. Remember if you can’t attend you need to complete the nomination form previously sent.
